Shera denies assault allegations and Salman stands by Shera - Page 5

The police probing a case of assault against actor Salman Khan's bodyguard Gurmeet Singh, better known as Shera, will be recording statements of all pertinent parties, sources said on Thursday.

The DN Nagar police will be checking CCTV for more evidence in the case where Shera allegedly attacking three men in suburban Andheri (West) early Wednesday, according to officials with the investigating team.

The police, having recorded statements of the complainant, Athar Gulam Ansari, and his two friends, will now continue the task with others connected in the case. They will find out the identity of an Ajay Bhai' with whom Shera reportedly spoke on the phone that Ansari handed him over, an official said.

"After getting clarification on all issues, we will decide in the next course of action," he added.

Shera, his driver and two bodyguards, had allegedly assaulted 25-year-old Ansari and his friends Javed and Valentine near Indian Oil Nagar link road at 2 am on Wednesday.

As the three friends were moving in an Audi, Ansari was speaking on the phone to a man identified as Ajay bhai', police said. Seeing Shera, Ansari allegedly told Ajay bhai about it.

At this, Ajay bhai asked Ansari to give the phone to Shera, which Ansari did after getting off the vehicle, the police said, based on the complaint. "Ajay bhai abused him and Shera abused him back," a police official said.

Following this, Shera "confronted Ansari and abused him" for handing over the phone.

"This led to a heated argument and a fight," the officer said, quoting the complaint. "Ansari said Shera pulled out a pistol and repeatedly hit him with its butt on his shoulder, fracturing his collar bone. Shera's bodyguard pulled out a blunt object and hit Ansari. Shera's aides, too, started beating up Javed and Valentine."

Ansari, Javed and Valentine rushed to Cooper hospital for a medical test and reached DN Nagar police station at 5.20 am.
