Well the reality unfortunately in India is that years and years of practice and sacrifices are also not enough to win an Olympic gold and which is why India has only won one individual Olympic gold ever.

When this is the reality and then a fictional character is shown who just trains for 3 months that to not with the worlds best facilities and then wins only gold medals in a very tournament including Olympics.How unrealistic it is.

I know no one cares about reality when it comes to movies but still at least the struggles and sacrifices a sportsperson has to make to win any kind of medal in country like India which doesn't have great sports facilities could have been shown.The only struggle Sultan had to go through was to get the love of his life .I don't think this did justice to a sportsperson life in India

Dangal that way is more realistic portrayal since its based on a real life story.Their wins and struggles will be realistic.I don't get the time frame questions.This is a movie and people can age over years in the movies.Girls have been shown to train since childhood and even Aamir ages over years here.Hence making things more believable .

It's more than giving inspiration, it's being mentor for them and guiding them towards the ultimate goal of winning gold. And I would say Aamir has put alot in his transformation, too. He gained so much weight for his older self then lost so much and built up his muscles for his younger self. So dedication was there for both, even more so for Aamir. I guess at the end, both movies have different take on wrestling and especially women wrestlers. And the only reason I am actually a bit put off by sultan is that it subtly throws the message that women are bound by their circumstances, so they can abandon their dreams, they can sacrifice. but, not men! Salman learned wrestling in what a month? And high rolled his way to gold medal. On top of that, the realistic progression of athlete's training for such sports is nonexistent in sultan. But again, not saying sultan is bad, it served up to a different audience that was there for the love story, songs, and salman. Dangal will serve up to a different audience, and hopefully display a more important societal message.
