Salman Khan's Sultan has just touched the Rs 300 crore mark and Aditya Chopra and his banner Yash Raj Films are in the mood to celebrate and share some of their happiness. And so they announce that they will give Rs 10 lakh to every gold medal winner at the Rio Olympics 2016...

As Salman Khan's Sultan crosses the Rs 300 crore mark, Yash Raj Films announces a special gift for all the Indian Olympic gold medalists!

We hear that the leading production house will give all the winning Indian athletes Rs 10 lakhs...

Sultan has just touched the Rs 300 crore mark and Aditya Chopra and his banner Yash Raj Films are in the mood to celebrate and share some of their happiness. The production house that made the film - a story about a common man who ultimately wins gold at the Olympics - is coming forward to reward our Indian athletes at the Rio Olympics 2016.

The studio has announced that they will honour all Indian athletes who win a gold medal for the country with a cash prize of Rs 10 Lakh. As a source from the studio who didn't wish to be named revealed to us, "One just doesn't make a film on an underdog athlete but also extends it in the most genuine way to encourage the true Sultans and Aarfas at Rio. To win it for their country. To win it for themselves."

However, this initiative of YRF has nothing to do with the Salman Khan-starrer. It's five weeks since the film's release and it is still winning at the box-office. The source adds, "It is a small gesture for our athletes to feel good. A small boost of motivation and a pat on the back."

Well, every small gesture goes a long way. Our state and central governments always present cash rewards to the athletes and looks like YRF is joining them also this time around. Ain't that cool? Sultan box office collection: Salman's film enters Rs 300-crore club

Salman Khan's Sultan is the third film after 2015's Bajrangi Bhaijaan and 2014's PK to gross more than Rs 300 crore at the domestic box office.

Salman Khan's Sultan, slowly, but surely, has cracked the 300-crore ceiling and is finally a part of the Rs. 300-crore club. After Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the wrestling film Sultan is now Salman's second film to have grossed over Rs 300 crore at the box office.

Salman, since 2009's Wanted, has been the undisputed king of the box office. The box office success of Sultan further cements his status of serial hit-maker at the box office.

According to a report in Koimoi.com, the Ali Abbas Zafar film has grossed Rs 300.05 crore in 35 days. Sultan is, now, the third film to have grossed over Rs 300 crore domestically at the box office after 2015's Bajrangi Bhaijaan and 2014's Aamir Khan-starrer PK. In fact, Anushka Sharma is, now, the only actor to have been a part of two 300 -crore films, PK and Sultan.

Sultan collected more than Rs 200 crore in the country in just seven days of its release, the fastest Bollywood film to have done so. It remains to be seen whether Salman's upcoming film Tubelight with director Kabir Khan can break the box office records set by Salman's films so far.

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Sultan is the story of a wrestler who is pushed to retirement after a tragedy hits his life. The film, which also stars Anushka Sharma, hit the screens on Eid this year.

Sultan grossed around 2 crore nett in its fifth week taking its business to a little under 300.50 crore nett The frop in the fifth week was just 52% apprx. The GROSS business of the film is now around 420 crore nett which is just 2 crore less than Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The distributor share of the film will also close at around 160 crore which is also 2 crore less than Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The recovery of the film will go close to a huge 350 crore. The domestic theatrical recovery (share) will be 160 crore, Overseas theatrical recovery will be around 66 crore. The satellite rate is 65 crore and music is 15 crore while digital and other rights will bring in around 40 crore. This adds up to a massive 346 crore. The business of Sultan till date is as follows.

Week Two - 48,89,00,000
Week Three - 15,81,00,000
Week Four - 4,35,00,000
Week Five - 2,00,00,000 apprx

GRAND TOTAL - 300,42,00,000 apprx

The satellite has fetched a huge amount and with this film it will be recovered looking at the break up of collections. It has performed superbly in areas which signal good television ratings. There are some films which sell for 8 or 10 crore and can be hit at the box office but when they come on television there are no ratings and recovery becomes a distant dream. Sultan despite huge price will have no such issues.
