I don't think Aamir was being humble.
He was simply using that to ridicule Sallu for rape remark. And showed how to act if you spoke a stupid remark.
He said waiter thing and than quickly apologized.
Thus showing to handle things in media, and make it seem jolly all.

Also Salman here is doing his all "Ibrahimovic and Cantona" brand of sharp reply humour. And this brand of humor is not cup of everyone's tea.

As I said in the end, it is SRK fans who became mammu.

IMO, what Aamir does is sweet sarcasm. The written transcript maybe gives that impression. If you watch his interviews, there's a glint in his eyes.

Example : "Kapdon mein toh vo achcha lagta hi hai, aur kapdon ke bina toh aur bhi. Langot mein toh sabse achcha lagta hai." Aamir praising Salman

IMO, he does this deliberately although i liked Salman's retort this time.

I am not discrediting Aamir at all ----- He does good movies and picks up good projects --- He started experimenting when he was down and out compared to the other Khans --- His experimentation paid off and he has stuck to it till now without any fail -- which I have no issue with --- like the kind of movies he does --- !!!
Even then I would say he doesn't ooze off confidence -- He is very insecure and uncertain ------ It shows in the kind of statements he makes -- He's always *scared* of losing his single record i/e having a top grosser --- He tries to project himself as humble full of humility (comes off fake always) --- To me it's a sign of lacking confidence ---- *😊*
As per his statement --- It was more of a play of *reverse psychology* ---- Try to underplay the stardom and get others to praise him ------ but instead he got *trolled* by Salman --- lol-- !!!!
