Yes, it is true. I thought it was a known fact. Mithun was married to Yogita Bali and they already had kids. Mithun met Sridevi on a film set and they fell in love. Boney Kapoor was Mithun's friend and had a serious crush on Sridevi. Seeing them together, Mithun grew insecure and to placate him she tied a rakhi to Boney Kapoor. Mithun and Sridevi got married and kept it a secret. But a fan magazine exposed them by publishing their marriage certificate. This lead to Mithun admitting to the press about their marriage. All this forced Yogita Bali to overdose on sedatives. This compelled Mithun to go back to his former wife and annul his marriage with Sridevi. There's also another version,Sridevi thought Mithun divorced Yogita and that's why she went ahead to get married to him and when she got to know that he didn't divorce his former wife, she left him.
