We all are seeing the new generation that is going to invade bollywood soon. Back in their prime actors like Govinda, Anil Kapoor, etc were doing 5-6 films every year. Its understood that Khans, Hritik can survive by doing 1 or 2 films because they already have a very strong fan base.

But what about the current generation?

Arjun Kapoor had one release in 2015 Jan and now his next release is 1 and half years later. 15months gap. If it were some solid character role then this gap is somewhat understood.

Siddhart was nowhere seen in 2013. He did 2 movies in 2014 with one becoming big hit. Then 1 year later he came with another and that too not a solo lead.

I don't know if they don't want to work or are not getting any movies. One thing is for sure, they are taking time for granted and will be gone pretty soon.

Imran Khan is the prime example to this .

I would say that back in the days it was easier to shoot several movies at the same time. Nowadays, there is a lot of scenes that are shot overseas. Also, even big movies didn't require as much time to shot than movies do nowadays.

I'd say that financially it wouldn't have been possible for actors to star in on movie a year as they were paid in lacks when nowadays they are paid crores for movies and endorsement.

Finally, with social media and all the interest that actors garner now, it's easier to stay in the public eye than it used to be. Take Parineeti for example, people still talk about her when her last movie was in 2014...

One reason could be that earlier actors could give flops and still be around, still get further chances to bounce back. Now people are more afraid of making mistakes as there is far more criticism/humour/ dismissal to face, and every chance you get may be your last one.

I think its just them being cautious . Also its very release date oriented . Arjun has 1 1/2 year gap between Tever and Ki . But in 2014 he had 3 films released . I think SOTY came in late 2012 . I don't think any of those kids even signed 2nd films till early 2013 . Also films gets delayed for hadl dozen reasons . I think Ranbir has 3/4 films on hand . Ranveer tho should sign some more . Maybe a slapstick comedy

don't know about others... but Ranveer did just one because Bajirao Mastani was a heavy film that required a lot of effort.. otherwise he manages 2 i feel.

Arjun Kapoor only doing one could be due to different reasons.. may be he didn't have a film in hand

To an extent I agree. Its very easy to fade away if 2-3 movies dont work. Imran Khan, Parineeti and to an extent RK have this issue. RK might tide over because he has some strong friendships in Bollywood owing to surname and family connections.

Given that movie making is a lot more professional nowadays with pre-production, ready script at the start of filming (I remember reading interviews in the 90s where people mentioned that script for the scene was written on set.

but again if most actors spend 3 months shooting a movie, they also have to spend another month promoting it and maybe another month in post production (dubbing etc).

But then actors like akshay kumar has proved that 3-4 movies per year is possible. Akshay's movies are solo leads and they are no way low budget or rushed productions.

Everybody knows he is workaholic. Other people either have excuses or no movies
