There are many good writers per sirf Chetan Bhagat ki novels pe movie ban rahi hai.
Though there are others book adaptation per Chetan ki books pe bani movies jyada hyped hote hain.
Bollywood can make movies on other writer's work
Vishal Bhardwaj made movies on Shakespeare novel and ARK's next is also book adaptation but Chetan book pe bani movies sabse jyada deemand main hai.

There are better writers than Chetan Bhagat, but since he is popular his books are adapted into movies.

If anyone has any recommendations for good books by Indian writers, then I would love to read. I do not like Chetan Bhagat at all. I will pick up any book except his.

Chetan Bhagat appeals to the lowest common denominator, while still retaining some sense unlike some others (read I too had a love story) but...

Karan Malhotra were adapting Immortals of Meluha, but I guess they scrapped it after the Warriors and Shuddhi fiasco

Sonam is adapting Battle for Bittora

Tigmanshu Dhulia is adapting Madam X

Raghavan is making Accidental Apprentice

Phantom was Mumbai Avengers

Bombay Velvet was Mumbai Fables

Shootout at Wadala was Dongri to Dubai

Byomkesh Bakshi was based on well Byomkesh Bakshi

I want to see an adaptation of Shadow Lines, I think that will make a good film in the hands of a good editor

I haven't read anything by Ashwin Sanghi but that sounds like the type of books that will make good thrillers 🤓

We have some awesome playwrights in India who wrote amazing plays. Some of them are really witty, touching and progressive, we could adapt them into movies but I'm not sure if the essense would be in tact. That's a trick question.
