Don't mix BO with acclaim. Only Robot was successful and that's a Rajinikanth vehicle.

Raavan was a flop. No idea how Raavanan did though.

And sorry but I do not believe Ash was offered HNY. Maybe in past when this film was not delayed or so. Otherwise SRK wouldn't go to any senior actress. He works with younger lot or Kajol.

Deepika and Ash can't be compared because of difference in age and stages of career.

Deepika was only in her third year of career in 2010 as a Bollywood actress.

So obviously a younger one can go ahead. Unlike a senior actress past her prime.

Because she is popular. She made a name for herself. But she is disliked on this forum very much and bashed.

Well most actresses who were of Aishwarya's

age have married and have either chosen not to work or are not getting work. Thats probably why srk chooses is not seen working with them.

Kajol however still is working (even if it is once in 3 years) And she has just done 3 films if im not wrong ever since her comeback with Fanaa. WIth 3 different actors,so its not like she has done like 30 films with the same 3. moreover the srk-kajol pair is one of the most celebrated onscreen pair of all times,so whats wrong with them wanting to work together?

why is srk in the picture anyway? Sallu doesnt work with older actresses either. What about that?

Lets face it. Ash still has a lot of demand. Kajol does too. No denying that. But since the topic in hand is why Ash is so popular,I'd rather stick to that.

I am not mixing it. Guzaarish was a niche film and it flopped only because of the huge budget. It received good reviews and especially performances were highly loved. There is a certain niche bracket that enjoyed the film and I am sure they have their hand in Aishwarya's popularity.

Raavan was a flop indeed and Raavanan worked big time. Look it up.

Well you may not believe it, but Aishwarya spoke to NDTV in 2013 right after rumours came out about her starring the film and she clarified she said no because it would be awkward for her to be romancing SRK in a film which had her husband Abhishek too. It's there somewhere on Youtube.

And why cant Deepika and Aishwarya be compared? They were both considered for the same role in HNY, and they are contemporary actresses. That you put her as past her prime is your opinion because in 2010, Ash was still a top 2 actress, more popular than every actress except Katrina.

Deepika 12/13 years younger (birth year 1973, and 1986) than Aishwarya, they are not peers and those who are desperate to make them peers live in lala-land.

I mean, really, most of us have forgotten her a long time back, yet she is brought up all the time. From the fat she carried around after becoming a mother to her ad's and photoshoots. She should be nonexistent considering her last movie released over 5 years ago...

Doing songs like Lovely now? I do not reckon Bachchan Bahu being given such permission.

This is why I felt even if Ash were offered this film it must have been years ago when it was first mooted but put on backburner.

She's a actress plus a star and she's incredibly smart. Her films might not be successful box office, I mean next to Kareena she does have a high flop ratio. But she's won a lot of critical acclaim and one of the first to ask for actual scripts. She's done things correctly and it has favored her b/c she's been offered a lot of good work but prominent people.

I think you can't conclude that it's just beauty, or just the name or just the PR. The combo of everything put together and hence her popularity. I don't think it's as high as it used to be, but there's still a chunk that care. For someone that's not on the social media, she still has a lot of online fans, which is surprising but I can see why.

Plus, she never really disappeared. She's always doing something. Even post-preggers she has endorsements, covers, etc.

Well they work in the same industry and were offered the same role. I think that's adequate to be termed a peer.
