Why did Jaya Bachchan agree to do Silsila?

The story is so similar to what happened with Rekha and Amitabh in real life. And if I'm not wrong, the film was made soon after the news about the affair broke.

Did she ever talk about this film? Wonder why she agreed to do it. 😕

That's an interesting question. Perhaps Amitabh asked her to do it and she decided not to say no to him. Even if it cost her pain and hurt her dignity, she may have wanted every chance at that time to keep up a working relationship with him.

PS: I'm guessing this because I saw a Yash Chopra interview where he said that it was Amitabh who asked Jaya to do Silsila after Yash narrated the story to him.

Yash Chopra had initially cast Smita patil and parveen Babi but he was not convinced and later asked Amitabh to talk to both rekha and Jaya B to act in it.

That entire movie and the very idea to make it was really cheap and disgusting! How vulgar!

AB, Jaya and Rekha washing their dirty linen in public! 🤢

Yash Chopra's worst in my opinion, even worse than JTHJ.

How did Jaya agree to do a replica of her real life pain and humiliation?

How did Rekha and Amitabh agree to replicate their real life love affair onscreen?

How cheap and shameless can people get, acting out their own real life extra marital affair for the big screen? They will do anything for money and box office appeal.

They were together in lot of scenes but there was only one scene where Jaya confronts rekha.almost looks like rekha walks away as the winner.she tells Jaya something like you keep your faith and let me be with my love..

Nope rekha's husband is in an air crash and AB saves him and rekha suddenly becomes sati savitri and AB goes back to Jaya cause she tells him she is pregnant.

No...he marries Jaya in the first place because she is pregnant with his brother's child. The brother is an air force pilot who dies early. Rekha's husband is a doctor. Big B decides to break off with Rekha as he tells that he can never leave his wife to do society.
