Ash- RS wouldn't look good together. Very odd pair !!

Deepika and Ash have kind of similar personality. Would have looked very unconvincing that Bajirao has Kashibai and is still running after a lesser beauty ( Sorry DP fans)

Deeps perfect as Mastani (beautiful) and have no worry anymore bout her acting skill after watching Piku bcause she is better than Tabu now.

But, HR perfect as Bajiro as his looks perfect as king (Im SRK fan)

Ok maybe aishwarya would have played a royal queen better but you have to consider more than just that while casting.
Firstly Aish would have looked quite elder than ranveer who plays kashibai's husband.And second the casting took place long back when aishwarya was not ready to come back in movies.
Priyanka may not look as royal or beautiful as aishwarya but i don't think she will be that bad.I think she is one of the very few actresses who can carry off any role well.
