Farah Khan with Alia Bhatt on the sets of the show
Farah Khan who's hosting a food show reveals the culinary secrets of her celebrity guests.

Farah Khan has been adding masala to the small screen by getting celebrity friends to cook for the camera on her upcoming food show on Colors, Farah Ki Dawat. She's got Malaika Arora Khan in her kitchen, glazing chicken legs with honey to the tune of Chhaiya Chhaiya and Boman Irani steaming Dhansak for two hours. When Alia Bhatt confessed that at 21 she couldn't cook to save her life, the host taught her how to make the perfect Thai vegetable curry.

Quiz her on these new-found chefs and she admits that she never imagined that Abhishek Bachchan could cook. "But turns out he's the best cook I've had on the show. He can roll out a perfect parantha and taught me how to make yummy Dahi Chicken. I thought he'd learnt it from his mom, Jaya Bachchan, who is a great cook but he insists his wife (Aishwarya Bachchan) is an even better cook," she says, adding that she warned him that if he revealed such secrets in public, he better not go home to mommy.

Farah has been cooking since she was 17 and gives herself at least a six on 10 on any Indian dish. She's curious to sample Shah Rukh Khan's chicken recipe. "For 21 years, I've seen Shah Rukh eat only tandoori chicken. But he's promised to serve chicken pasta, SRK style, on the show," she informs, licking her lips in anticipation.

Farah remembers that when they were shooting Dil Chahta Hai in Sydney, she got tired of eating pasta and grilled fish and decided to cook Yakhni Pulao in her hotel room without realizing the sensitivity of the smoke detectors. "An hour later, all the guests were out on the street and the spot boys were in their kachchas laughing at me. I didn't even get to eat the pulao because by the time the mess got sorted, everything was burnt," she recalls.

Since she doesn't like packaged or precooked food, Farah now sticks to firang cuisine when abroad. But as soon as she is back home, she makes a meal of Dahikhichdi and aloo ki sabzi, even if it's 4 am.

Can hubby Shirish Kunder cook? Farah admits he's never cooked anything for her. "My mother-in-law's Manglorian Khopra Chicken and Idli-chutney reminds me of my grandmother," who she insists was the best cook in the world. "On Eid, granny would start cooking around 4 am and the handi of biryani would be opened only during lunch," she recalls. "I have been excited about food ever since that endless wait."

Isn't Alia 23? Preity Zinta said she was 6/7 when they were shooting Shangharsh. It was a 1999 release. So, she was 6/7 in 1998/'97.
