So mature enough to participate in an act but not mature to take reaction on the chin?

Where does maturity go when they start whining for support from uninvolved parties?

Just as these comedians didn't have to think of people's expectations before doing what they did, similarly others don't have to think of their expectations as "friends".

Wonder how many times K Jo has come out in support of Salman, Aamir or Bachchans in their issues! Only seen him take up cudgels for his brother/friend/soulmate SRK and his family. If at all he should expect anyone to support him, it's SRK then.

Others don't have to support him. Not at all. But when it comes to matters of freedom of expression I would expect my friends to at least make a generic comment or even a gesture about it.

But this is the same industry who wouldn't stand up and speak in support of Priety Zinta, the powerful of the industry who didn't anything to Shenaz Treasurywala's open letter, the same industry that worships at the alter of Salman Khan. So hopefully Karan isn't too surprised by this.

A few of the none big wigs have spoken up which I find rather ironic because they probably have the most to lose if they anger the censor board or the federation of whatever it was called.

What if they don feel the same way? What if they were offended by the Roast? Am sure they have the right to be offended ( irrespective of whether they are right or wrong)? And as friends, they haven't expressed disdain in public..Just refrained from supporting him probably because they din find any of it funny..Well & good..Even those actors who participated in the roost haven't come out in support & are keeping mum about the controversy..So why are totally unrelated parties expected to speak?

Fair point. He made the decision and he should deal with the consequences.

But I reiterated this in my original post. None of the others have to say anything here at all. They are fully within their rights to stay away. I guess I was projecting my own feelings here onto Karan Johar. My Bad!! But yes, I would have liked to see my favorites at least, The Bachchans and Aamir Khan, take some kind of a stand in favor of freedom of expression. Do something very generic like Sidharth Malhotra did when he retweeted a Barkha Dutt tweet about several issues (including AIB roast) and India being a democracy. Do they have to? Absolutely not. But yea, taking a stand sometimes isn't a bad thing.

And yes, I am still disappointed that neither the Bachchans nor Aamir Khan said anything publically about Shenaz Treasurywala's open letter, or showed their public support to Preity Zinta in her harassment and abuse complaint. I'm going on a tangent here and taking this discussion into a completely different direction but reacting publically to these two items would have gone a long way instead of just giving sound bites at news conferences in support of girl child and gender equality.

OK, off my soap box now.
