That Aamir suits the role of aliens really well. From now on he should only play aliens to look the part.

I havnt watched the film yet but if the below written is anything to go by then yes there is indeed an issue here..

You really want to know or just wanna mock? - I want to know but if the film is mocking me , my beliefs , my religion - i wouldn't mind giving it back..😃

1) There is God (the creator) but what that God is, we don't know

- True , Hinduism agrees... but the various forms of Gods that Hindus worship are the forms of the ultimate Parabrahmaan (the inexplicable yet easily explicable God ) because these forms are more accessible & relevant to us as human beings.. and there nothing whatsoever wrong with it..

2) The concept of God is not the real God

- Really ??.. According to whom ??.. the film ??.. ok 😆

3) Religion is man made hence its a conceptual God and different people have created different Gods and according to them, only their God is the rite one and that God demands certain rituals, tells you (in his book) what is rite and wrong and what to do or not or else, he'll burn you in hell

- Religion may or may not be man made , but if whats written in the book helps people to stay on right track & be righteous in the sense of Humanity, the purpose of the said religion is served.. on the other hand if people's blind beliefs paves way for unnecessary troubles for humans & humanity , then it must be investigated & solved in a befitting manner..

4) Religion creates fear. Its not a loving God but a fearing God. You've to fear him, worship him, do as he says or else, he is gonna burn you in hell or some other disaster.

- What a horrible way to put it .. the purpose of a religion is never to create a fear of anything , but rather to provide a supporting ground for people to live their life righteously "in sync" with humanity..a righteous act done out of fear is never a righteous act .. "Tum Karm Karte Jao , Phal Tumhe Apne Aap Mil Jayega ".. and if at all a religion intends to instill fear among people then it must be dealt with accordingly..

5) Labels don't exist. A Muslim woman or a Hindu man, does not exist in reality. Same goes for being an Indian or Pakistani, these are not real, these are just labels created by our society and we've just accepted them.

- Labels are in itself debatable .. we all have a sense of identity of being a Man , Woman , Trangender , Hindu , Muslim , Christian , Indian , Pakistani , Australian, Gay , Straight, Bisexual - are we all supposed to abandon our identity ?.. yes we are indeed Humans first and my religion teaches me that but i see no reason to abandon my identity just so that i could support Humanity bcoz i support Humanity with my Identity ..

6) Labels also have their own set of beliefs and ideas, that we've just believed in as true but they're not true. For e.g. seeing a pakistani muslim guy and having the belief that he is gonna betray you because he is a pakistani muslim guy. So first mistake is that you see a Pakistani, muslim guy, 2nd mistake is that you have other beliefs about that kind of person, so that kind of person will betray you, which again is not true.

- So preconceptions are never justified .. yes , true..which religion teaches us anything otherwise ?.. oh wait , i think certain religions do , from what i hear & experience in real life , these religions go as far as inculcating hatred about other religions through their "sacred" texts .. may be thats the problem that needs to be worked on first..did Amir HIGHLIGHT this problem in the film ?

7) We're all equal. What we've or what we can do or from which country we're or which God we believe in, none of this matters, these things only divide us human, they don't unite us

- I respectfully disagree , if a religion indeed teaches us "peace" & "humanity" , unity can be achieved but abandoning one's religion is just stupid .. but if a certain section of a religion is experiencing a problem then that needs to be handled accordingly .. erasing religions is hardly a solution..

8) The creator (GOD) does not need our defense. He has created the universe and everything and you're gonna protect him from other human beings because they have a different opinion than you so you feel threatened? You're not defending God but just your beliefs. Its one person's belief vs another person's belief, nothing to do with God.

- True , so blame the people here , why blame the religion ?.. and what exactly does the film mean by "having a different opinion " , if this "different opinion" is "mocking my religion" then dont expect me to hold back.. lol.. having different opinions , faiths , beliefs , religions is completely fine as long as you take care of the fact that you are not "mocking" anybody's beliefs ..

9) We're all God's children and God is everywhere, we don't need to go to some other place to worship him so he can be satisfied (like he has a big ego, that needs satisfaction) and then accept our prayers and give us what we want or he won't be bothered.

- What an absurd thing to say , yes God is everywhere but whats wrong people going to a "special place of worship" ?.... and who said that we go to the "special place of worship to inflate the already over-inflated ego of God" ? .. lol ..what nonsense ! .. that is not why we go temples , or Muslims go to mosques or makkah , or Christians go to churches .. and while we are on it , since i dint see the film , what i want to know is - which example did the film use to explain this point of view - Hindus & Temples ?.. Muslims & Mosques ?.. or Christians & Churches ??.. or did it provide equal footage to explain all of them , or did it single out Hinduism ?

10) Question everything, question everything they have thought you, it just might be false, ever questioned yourself? your beliefs? Its easy to point fingers outwards but we've to point fingers at ourselves and find out the truth (that is, if we want to)

- This is so TRUE !! .. Questioning everything is one of the basic tenets of Hinduism , cant speak for others though..

11) We come naked in this world, shame is in our minds, nudism is not erotic but actually natural. If we're covering our bodies because we feel ashamed of it then what are we doing, really? Feel ashamed of our bodies? Feel ashamed of sex? Can have sex but can't accept that we're having sex as its taboo? Screw that

- I think Hinduism happens to be one religion which accepts Nudism , Eroticism & Sex without making a taboo out of it 😃.. the whole unnecessary shame & hypocrisy is the by-product of Victorian rule which left its mark on people's mentality here & this mentality is what needs to be worked on..in fact other religions have always targeted/attacked/mocked Hinduism for its liberal stand in such matters .. and that is why i am proud to be Hindu !

That's all I remember for now, hope that answers your questions 😃

Now having said that , i just want to make it clear that i am not one of those phony sensitive folks who get offended at every little thing, i do believe in artistic liberty , like i said before , i havn't watched the film yet & my reply is purely based on the above quoted ,may be if i see the film in its entirety i may not feel the same way about it , but from what i read so far it seems the film is mostly targeting Hinduism , i may be wrong , it might have included all the religions , it might have pointed out the faults in the current problematic religions as much as it took the liberty of taking potshots at Hinduism.. i will know when i finally watch the film.. 😊

Basically it says...religion is manmade- true
There is one creator-true
God doesn't need to be protected-true
Most of the times these Godmen are making an ullu out of simple hardworking people-true
The faith in God is linked with fear- well true to a certain extent...but not necessary..

These are a few messages that the movie gives...and Gubbara...don't go by what people are saying on the net and twitter...go watch the movie and judge for urself if u feel offended...what happens is in these kinds of movies...if one person criticizes it...it has a snowball effect...because religion is such a sensitive issue...I can bet my life on that half of the people who are mad at PK have not even watched it and are just mad by reading about it...i am not saying that who ever has watched it and doesn't agree are wrong...but girl u have to watch it urself to decide...and not depend on others' judgement...

Thanks for this blueice.. so all the hoopla was for nothing.. 😆.. you put forth the summary brilliantly but a previous post did suggest something like Hinduism being singled out.. oh well , i will watch it & judge myself.. 😃

Another great review .. ⭐️.. so that settles it then , PK is in no way offensive to Hinduism..⭐️.. highlighting social issues in a film is always a plus as far as i am concerned.. 😃

Phew !.. some of the posts were misleading ! ..

Honestly, I'm pretty surprised that people are finding it 'that' controversial. 😆
There's hardly anything in the movie to which you might disagree with or get offended about , even all those little dialogues about God-men making a business out of people's fears has been spoken a lot on various platforms without offending many believers and temple-goers. It's as non-controversial as it can be, especially with a subject like God and religion.

Why would anybody get offended if you are picking on people similar to those idiot Asarams and Rampals anyway? 😆

Regarding that little joke on Idol-worshiping and all, that's hardly tauba-tauba wala offensive and I'm pretty sure we all can afford to laugh at ourselves occasionally. Big deal.😆

Well said adventurous man, you completely stole my words. And exacty there is nothing in the movie that is controversial. Raju hirani made a really clean movie with no added bullshit. I don't understand why people are finding him chasing Lord Shiva offensive. Someone explain?
