In an interview with us, Sonam Kapoor talks about Salman Khan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Dolly Ki Doli, Fashion, Fashionista Tag, Fawad Khan, Varun Dhawan, Box Office Collections and many more stuffs.

Excerpts from the exclusive interview

1. This is the third time you are acting a film having a ensemble cast but you are the central character. So how was it working with the entire ensemble cast and how does it feel doing such kind of films?

Sonam- I don't want to call myself the lead of the film but I would call it an ensemble film but my characters name is in the title of the film. It is always nice to have a good support system. Yes I am the captain of the team but the team can't win unless everyone contributes. You need a good supporting cast for a film to be successful. Even if I am the lead of the film I am responsible to keep the team together so I cannot take credit for any of those things but all I can say is it was an amazing experience and hopefully we will have a winner in hands.

2. Raanjhanaa, Bhaag Milkh Bhaag and Khoobsurat were run away hits so does it add to a bit of pressure on you?

Sonam- No it just becomes easier as people begin to realize that the actress is doing a good job so we should go and watch her film.

3. With the variety of roles coming up to you, do you think 2015 will be your year?

Sonam- I don't know, I just hope that I keep getting good roles and my films are successful. I don't care if this is my year or someone else's year; I just want to keep getting roles where I can express myself and I don't end up being a pretty face.

4. How different is Dolly Ki Doli from Dawaat E Ishq as both films seem to be having a similar plot?

Sonam- I have not seen Dawaat E Ishq yet so I can't comment on it. I am so sorry I would have watched it but it released on same date as Khoobsurat so could not see it.

5. Why do you attract such powerful women oriented character?

Sonam- I don't know. I choose to do films like that and once you start that people start expecting you to do films like that and they automatically come to you. So once you make the choice, it is upto you. After I did Raanjhnaa and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag people realized that this girl want to do character driven roles and she wants to do films where she actually has dialogues to speak and has command over the language. So I feel people want to give me the work because I started doing those kind of roles.

6. What do you have to say about the box office performance of your films? Like Raanjhanaa earned more than Khoobsurat.

Sonam- They all were hit films so what do I have to say about them. Raanjhanaa had Dhanush and me in it, the budget of the film was different and the amount of screens it was released in was different and it had A R Rahman's music in it so do you understand the difference? Khoobsurat was released on 900 screens as supposed to 3000 screens so even if it went houseful for 3 weeks it won't make so much money. Its simple mathematics, Raanjhanaa was a 35 cr film and Khoobsurat was a 12 cr film. The kind of audiences they film catered to are different. Dolly Ki Doli is different from Khoobsurat and we are releasing it on 200 screens more than Khoobsurat because it has more appeal to the audiences.

7. You are a fashion diva and people working with you are always apprehensive as to how should they present themselves. So how does that feel?

Sonam- Fawad is extremely stylish and he was not scared at all. Varun is like a kid yaar he is like my brothers age and even I would be intimidated working with someone who is elder to me like before I had to work with Salman, I was a little skeptical as there are certain expectations they have from us, you are not sure about how are you behaving but once you get to know the person and realize that he is a normal human being you share a comfort level. So I guess that was the situation between Varun and Me.

8. When actresses are paired opposite Salman Khan, usually they do not get a chance to get a lot of screen space; so what would you like to say about your character In Prem Ratan Dhan Payo?

Sonam- The reason I decided to be a part of the film is because it is a Sooraj Barjatya Film, It is a romantic film and you cannot make a romantic film if you don't have equal screen space. It is a romantic film and like all other Sooraj Barjatya film the Hero and Heroine have the same amount of screen time and it will always be there in his film. This is a film about Love and Family. This is not a film where the girl has 3 scenes and 4 songs. That is the reason I choose to do this film. The audience always has expectations of me and another thing I wanted to add is it is not about screen space. If you watch my film Delhi 6, I am there for 25 minutes in the film but you won't notice that because it was the strength of the character or even for that sake Bhaag Milkha Bhaag I was barely there for 10 minutes in the film. People remembering you for your character even for 10 minutes role is important. Saying that, fortunately or unfortunately for the audiences, I am there throughout Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and I am shooting for it almost every day. So it's a good thing and I like to do films where I am relevant. I don't do films where I am just a pretty face. If I spend my time on something it should be worth it. I am not here to be a number one movie star. I am not going to make choices on basis of it being a good commercial project. I would want to do a film where I do something productive with my time. I am not judging the people who do that it's good for them. For me choosing films is a well thought of film and I choose films that make me matter in the film. I don't want to be in the number game.

9. How difficult/easy was it for you to slip into your character in Dolly Ki Doli?

Sonam- I am a happy go lucky person but it is a very difficult to get into the character as I am not a North Indian Girl who cons people but I am more like a Juhu Girl so It is always get into the character. My body language in the film is very different and for some strange reasons nobody wants me to play such character but people want me to play roles like Mausam, Delhi 6, Sawaariya which is completely opposite to what I am in real life.

10. You are one of the most famous celebrities on social network. So what is your take on that?

Sonam- I honestly enjoy interacting with people on social networking websites. It's a great way to connect with your fans and it is a great way to clear the air about many rumors. It's a great way to promote films and connect with audiences all over the world. In fact there were so many numbers floating around for Khoobsurat so we used social media to clear the air.

11. Would you like to try out an action film soon?

Sonam- I don't know, do you think I should? Let's see. It is really expensive to shoot for action films. It is my dream to be a part of action film and would like to do the kind of films Angelina Jolie does like Salt. Action is very expensive to shoot as it takes lots of time to shoot for action sequences.

12. What is your take on Dolly Ki Doli's clash with Baby?

Sonam- There are 52 weeks and we definitely don't have just 52 films to release in a year. There is not enough space to get a solo release unless you are as big as The Khans. So people are really scared to release with a movie starring Khan's. Haider and Bang Bang released on same day and people who could not get tickets of Bang Bang on the first day went to watch Haider and eventually people loved Haider and it went on to become a huge hit. It all depends on footfalls. This is a long weekend and good period to release the film. Some people will watch Baby and some people will go and watch Dolly Ki Doli as it is a family entertainer with UA certificate.
