Hollywood movie buffs have reason to grumble while Bollywood fans have reason to rejoice.

This Ramadan, a number of Hollywood blockbusters have been put in the cold storage in the UAE, to be released around Eid.

On the other hand, Bollywood movies are a go, with at least one new movie release slated for every week right until Eid, when Salman Khan's classic masala act Kick' is set to entertain us.

The much-awaited sci-fi thriller Transformers 4', which is doing big business on international shores, is being held over for an Eid release.

Now in its fourth instalment, Transformers: Age of Extinction' is creating box-office history, with the international media claiming it has collected "$100 million in North American ticket sales for its opening weekend".

However, UAE fans of the action thriller will have to wait until the holy month of Ramadan ends.

Transformers 4' isn't the only big Hollywood release that is being held over. Tammy' too gets delayed in the UAE, with movie showcasers in the UAE claiming it could hit the theatres on Eid-al-Fitr.

Tammy', described as a poignant comedy', is gaining rave reviews from movie critics around the world, and its lead star Melissa McCarthy is being touted as a "box-office powerhouse".

According to a spokesperson at Grand Cinemas, apart from the two movies, the "tentative" list for new releases on Eid show The Purge: Anarchy', The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box', and Postman Pat: The Movie', Dawn of the Planet of The Apes', and Planes: Fire & Rescue'.

Talking to Emirates 24|7, Svetlana Gunko, marketing representative of Empire International Gulf, explained that the delay is because the movie business usually dips during this time of the year. "The business does slow down, so big distributors and production houses prefer to release movies later.

"Also, this is the time when a lot of people go on holiday, and the mood is generally towards family get-togethers. Families prefer to gather for iftaars and suhoors, rather than head to the cinemas."

However, Bollywood fans have much to rejoice. Every weekend, up until Eid, will have a new release, with this weekend, releasing not one but two Bollywood movies. Vidya Balan's detective drama Bobby Jasoos' and Armaan Jain's Bollywood debut Lekar Hum Deewana Dil'.

Next week will see Student of the Year' duo Varun Dhawan and Ali Bhatt romancing each other in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'. And, the weekend just before Eid will see Hate Story 2'.

The grand finale is reserved exclusively to Salman Khan, who's promising a cracker of an Eid with his classic masala act in Kick'.

Hangover...Meet bros swag lyrics!!
Hangover..

Jaane kab hothon pe
Dil ne rakh di dil ki baatein
Samjha nahi yeh dil
Isko hum toh rahe samjhaate
(Jaate.. Jaate.. Jaate..)

Jaane kab hothon pe
Dil ne rakh di dil ki baatein
Samjha nahi yeh dil
Isko hum toh rahe samjhaate

Maine dekha tujhe bhulaake
Har ek tarkeeb lagake
Har nuskhe ko aazma ke
Par dil se kabhi na utre (utre..)

Hangover teri yaadon ka
Hangover teri baaton ka
Hangover teri yaadon ka
Hangover teri baaton ka

Hangover, Hangover
Dhire dhire nasha chad ne lage
Kudi jab bole baby come over

Hangover baby Hangover
Kick wo lage
Saari raat chada rehta hega hangover

Ho Ek jagah pe kabhi ruka nahin
Ek jagah pe kabhi tika nahin
Jaisa maine chaha mujhe
Waisa koyi dikha nahi

Ek jagah pe kabhi ruka nahin
Ek jagah pe kabhi tika nahin
Jaisa maine chaha mujhe
Waisa koyi dikha nahi

Par jabse dekha tujhe
Jo huaa nahi wo hone lagaa
Dil mera mujhe jaga ke
Khud seene mein sone laga
O meri fitrat badal rahi hai
Jaise barqat koyi huyi hai
Bas ab toh duaa yahi hai
Ke dil se kabhi na utre (utre..)

Hangover teri yaadon ka
Hangover teri baaton ka
Hangover teri yaadon ka
Hangover teri baaton ka

(Hoye.. hoye..)

Salman Khan: If I can sing, anybody can sing

Salman Khan

Even as Salman Khan-starrer Kick is getting ready for release, the actor has pleasantly surprised everyone with his rendition of the mushy melody, Hangover. Says the Bollywood superstar, "Singing is very difficult. I would break into a sweat while recording; it was as if I was once again shooting for Maine Pyar Kiya."

He credits composer Wajid for the appreciation Hangover has garnered. "Wajid used to sing one line and I would emulate it. I was comfortable with him since he knows my voice and there is no shyness. I can sing openly in front of him and so, I would improvise. The technicians would then work on it, and I finally realised that most singers work like that. It was a superb experience. I have not just sung the song, I have felt it. One day, I will reach a stage jab har sur barabar lagega," Salman says.

ALSO READ: What makes Salman Khan so popular?

The actor adds, "When I sang inside the studio, it sounded a bit strange. I asked them to stop playing it as I found it bakwaas. But then, the technicians made me listen to the song post recording and I was happy with what I finally heard... kamaal ho gaya... mazaa aa gaya."

Salman says he enjoyed singing so much that he is contemplating doing riyaz every day. Interestingly, he is not new to singing. He had recorded Chandi Ki Daal Par Sone Ka Mor for Hello Brother in 1999. "At that time, maine gaana bola tha, but I have sung for the first time," he points out. In a lighter vein, he adds, "Sriji (Sridevi) had once told me that she feels like running away whenever she hears a song recorded in her voice. It is the same with me. I like my voice only upto the bathroom level... bathroom tak hi achhi lagti hai, but I can't invite everybody in my bathroom, na."

I have not sung the song but I have felt it

So, what motivated him to sing? Salman replies(with a mischievous grin), "Majboori. Where are the singers these days?" On a serious note, he says, "I want to be a complete actor. If I can do action and comedy, I can sing too. There was no compulsion as such. We were just trying it for fun and I sounded okay. When the song went in mixing and mastering, my voice was presentable. It feels good for my own satisfaction."

ALSO READ: Why Salman Khan may not marry

Interestingly, if Salman has inherited painting skills from his mother, his singing genes come from his father, Salim Khan. "My father sings very high notes. Our voices are trained for high sur. He likes my singing. Sometimes, it is there in your genes and you don't even know it," he says.

And like his father, Salman loves old Hindi melodies. Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya, Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye, Parbat Ke Peeche Chambe Da Gaon, Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana... are some of his favourite songs. "In Western, I like Michael Jackson and then Retro. I don't understand rap or the new stuff. I remember old songs which are easier to sing and has melody," he says.

Similarly, he sees a certain old-world charm in inviting musicians home for music sittings. "I do it for all my films and it is done in a traditional way. I never hear scratches. Musicians come home with tabla, peti, harmonium; they play the instruments and we have live singing," says the actor.

Has he learnt anything new as a singer? "I have realised that if I can sing, anybody can. Modern equipment and technology help adjust sur. It is just that you need some basic skills. More than singers, it's difficult for the arrangers and composers. Everybody sounds good when the mastered copy comes out. Of course, we have trained singers who are on a different level altogether. But these days, we rarely have songs that need solid, trained singers. Most of the time, tracks are simple. Technicians are turning singers into gods. I can say this from my personal experience."

Kick Music Review

Star rating: 3.5/5 (Three and half stars)

Music Director: Himesh Reshammiya, Meet Bros Anjjan, Yo Yo Honey Singh

User rating:

The much-awaited music album of Salman Khan's upcoming action film is full on filmy. With music that will make every Bollywood freak go crazy, the composers Himesh Reshammiya, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Meet Bros Anjjan have done a great job with this album. Catchy is the word for this quirky music album of Kick.

Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez in a still from movie Kick'

Hangover - Kick Music Review

While a typical romantic number would consist the cliched Pyaar', the track Hangover' comes out as a breath of fresh air. This love song is nothing like you have heard before, with ample of transitions and a good use of instrumentation. Hangover is successful at engaging you in the very first go. If the music was any less good, the surprising element is that Salman Khan sings it. He sounds himself and you are forced to love it. This duet of Shreya Ghoshal and Salman can evoke romance in just the right spirit. Composed by Meet Brothers, this song is a quality number in the album.

Jumme Ki Raat - Kick Music Review

Right before its release, the song was touted to be the Eid Anthem'. Well, I disagree, this song is not just a Eid song but with its upbeat spirit it could be a festive number for any given occasion. Composed by Himesh Reshammiya, the song is an excellent exception to his style of music which majority of times has been quite repetitive. Listing out what works for this song is really easy, for firsts, the opening tune itself is catchy. The second highlight of the song is Mika Singh's vocals. His singing has the magnitude to take the song to another level. This one is a superhit number!

Tu Hi Tu - Kick Music Review

Tu Hi Tu' is like finding a Mohit Suri film song in a Salman Khan film. The song is a soothing romantic number; again a surprise that it is a Himesh Reshammiya composition. This is one song that gives depth to the album since the others are more sprightly numbers.

Yaar Na Miley - Kick Music Review

If you thought a Honey Singh number has to be hip hop, well think again and listen to this one. Yaar Na Miley' is an excellent number from this album. The energetic song is a great work by Honey Singh and the female vocalist Jasmine Sandlas is a discovery, as her voice takes this song to another level. In one shot itself, the song really hooks you and your favorite line has to be Tere Bina Kick Mujhe Milti Nahi'. With its fast pace, the track will surely become a superhit at clubs and lounges.

Jumme Ki Raat (Salman Khan Version) - Kick Music Review

Although this is not a remix version of the original, the specialty is Salman Khan's vocals. The actor seems to have really shed all his singing fears and come out loud with this one. Sounding all confident, Salman sings his heart out with Jumme Ki Raat'. Who knew, Salman could give Mika Singh a tough competition? The high-spirited song maintains its energy even with Salman's vocals which may not be technically right but are highly enjoyable.

Tu Hi Tu Reprise - Kick Music Review

The reprise version of Tu Hi Tu is again as soothing as the original. In the vocals of Neeti Mohan, the song is powerful with its romantic feel. There is less of variation in the music as compared to the original. It is one of those songs that you may want to listen to on quiet evenings all by yourself.

Hangover (Mba Swag) - Kick Music Review

This Hangover mix is just like any other remix. It has been typically tweaked to suit the club goers. A party track needs the perfect beats and thus with a DJ on board for this number, Meet Bros Anjjan change the sweet, romantic original track to a fast paced number. It could be a perfect choice if you are one of those who need a high energy mornings or a good choice for morning work outs.

Tu Hi Tu (Salman Khan Version) - Kick Music Review

Yet another time, Tu Hi Tu' is back in the album but this time with Salman Khan's vocals. It seems the actor really enjoyed his singing stint with this album and decided to try singing all the tracks once. Since the composition itself is a nice one, you may enjoy it even in an untrained voice of Salman.

Jumme Ki Raat Remixes - Kick Music Review

And again I say whoever said this was the Eid Anthem', this remix is a perfect Navratri number or for that matter suitable for any festive occasion. Almost reminding you the beats of the famous Shahid Kapoor track Dhating Nach', this song wins you over with its tempo. I almost loved this number enough to actually start dancing to it. Also there is another version of this remix with vocals by Mika Singh and it surely is as good as this one.

Hangover Remix - Kick Music Review

Being a lover of Latino music and their beats, the instant connection I found with this song was expected. Hangover Remix' has the feel almost close to the Latin salsa music which makes it quirky. It is easily likable, not the best one from the album but still a decent one.

Tu Hi Tu Remixes - Kick Music Review

There is nothing special about this remixes of Tu Hi Tu'! Just the fact that there are three different tracks each sung by different vocalists. The song seems an unnecessary addition to the album. In fact after listening to these tracks, I found the original track also losing its charm. While the original and the reprise version are good enough, these remixes were certainly not required.

The Last Word - Kick Music Review

The music album of Kick is a superhit album giving the perfect Bollywood touch. Upbeat, peppy and high spirited tracks is the highlight of this music album. Also not to mention Salman Khan's singing turns out quite impressive with this soundtrack. All in all, after having a good time listening to this tadakta fadakta' album, I will go with a 3.5/5 for it.

Now this is real big!! Music album of the most awaited movie of 2014 till now is out. Even though Kick' song promos have been released hardly a month before its theatrical release, they are catching like a house on fire. With just over two weeks to go for this mega Eid release carrying tremendous buzz, the makers have finally released the full audio album. The album has multiple catchy attractions that have raised the curiosity levels of one and all. Sample a few mentioned below:

  • Salman Khan has rendered his voice for a romantic song Hangover' along with Shreya Ghoshal. Song has been composed by Meet Bros. of Baby Doll' fame.
  • The title track has been composed by none other than rap master Yo Yo Honey Singh' who is enjoying the peak of his career at the moment.
  • Jumme Ki Raat' sung by Mika and composed by Himesh Reshammiya is already a chartbuster.
  • Kick is the most ambitious product of the premier production house Nadiadwala Grandson' as Sajid Nadiadwala is making his directorial debut with it and he is leaving no stones unturned.

It will be an understatement to say that expectations have taken a roller coaster ride as we dwell inside this album filled with adrenaline pumping tunes.

Kick Music Review

Kick Music Review

Jumme Ki Raat: Album kicks off with a song whose title reminds you of the Big B famous song Jumma Chumma' from the movie Hum'. But this Himesh's composition is completely in a different space altogether. This foot tapping number starts off with a peppy and instantly catchy tune. Mika is in his complete elements with highly energetic vocals and he is ably supported by Palak Muchhal. Since the movie is an Eid release, expect nothing less than fireworks in theatres when this song will play on the big screen. (3.5/5)

Hangover: After their stupendous success of Baby Doll', Meet Bros. Anjjan have been roped in to compose the romantic track Hangover'. Salman Khan comes behind the mike for the 4th time after Hello Brother', Chal Mere Bhai' and Wanted'. His voice fits into the song. Shreya is brilliant as usual. The violin music in the beginning is pleasant to the ears. Lyrics by Kumaar are average. (3/5)

Tu Hi Tu: Himesh Reshammiya's Tu Hi Tu' is very reminiscent of his earlier soft melodious numbers where vocals and lyrics takes centre stage with minimum soft orchestra. Mohd Irfan has already carved a niche for himself with superhit songs like Phir Mohabbat'(Murder 2), Baarish'(Yaariyan), Dard Dilon Ke' (Xpose) and Banjaara' (Ek Villain). Superbly aided by lyrics from Mayur Puri, the track has the potential to grow with time. (3/5)

Yaar Naa Miley: Yo Yo Honey Singh' is the flavor of the season and has proved his talent with hits in movies like Khiladi 786', Chennai Express', Boss', Yaariyan' etc. But this time surprisingly Punjabi pop singer Jasmine Sandlas steals the show completely. Her rustic voice is perfect for the Punjabi disco beats of the song. This foot tapping classic Punjabi number has the potential to rock the DJ Charts in the days to come. (3.5/5)

The surprise package of the album is Salman has rendered his vocals for Jumme Ki Raat' and Tu Hi Tu' as well. But after hearing the voices of Mika and Mohd Irfan, Salman's version pales in comparison. Hangover (MBA Swag) is catchy. Then to fill in the album we have reprise, house mix and remix versions of all the above mentioned songs. Apart from Yaar Naa Miley', there is a remix version and a Salman' version of all the 3 songs.

Rating:

All the 4 main songs have been shot lavishly as the grand sets are visible in the promos. The theatrical trailer became the most liked Bollywood trailer ever in flat 10 days in YouTube. This has generated enough steam for the movie and with foot tapping songs like Jumme Ki Raat' and Yaar Naa Miley' the earth-shattering opening at the box office is a foregone conclusion. Salman's voice in Hangover' is just an icing on the cake. Songs are not musical gems but tunes are catchy and look good on screen. They go perfectly with the Salman's dialogue - Itna Mat Sochna, Dil Mein aata hoon, samajh mein nahin'

Devil is all set to run riot this Eid.
