quite particular about the kinds of roles he wants
to play, irrespective of the perks associated. This
was proved true when Manoj apparently turned
down a key role in Vishal Bharadwaj's upcoming
film Haider, which then went on to actor Kay Kay
Menon.
According to reports from a leading tabloid, the
only reason why Manoj decided to opt out of the
film was because he did not want to play lead
protagonist Shahid Kapoor's uncle.
A source close to the tabloid added that since
Manoj would be required to look much older as
he would share considerable screen space with
Shahid Kapoor, he felt discouraged for the role.
However, it is good to know that there is
apparently no feeling of animosity among director
Vishal Bharadwaj and Manoj after the latter's
decision.
Haider, which is an adaptation of Shakespearean
tragedy Hamlet stars Shahid Kapoor in the titular
role opposite newbie actor Shraddha Kapoor.
The Vishal Bharadwaj directed film is slated to hit
theatres on September 12.
Haider also stars Irrfan Khan and Kay Kay
Menon. The film's shoot in Kashmir had to be cut
short or halted from time to time as the crew met
with frequent protests from the locals.
