Chalo we always debate weather modi's role as CM during riots ,it may not end as it always have two sides. Its a never ending debate i m ending it with a documentary of that time. May be we can witness some documentary where modi have role in that and can make our own decision.

India is no stranger to religious violence, nor ban on films that seek intelligent introspection of those events. What makes it different this time, is that the leader behind the genocide is neither shadowy (like the grand old party) nor limited to a small region (like the Tiger). He is rather upfront about his actions, intentions, and frustrations. His diatribe is coated with brilliant oratory, his exhortations are served with a dash of sarcastic humor, and his pride at "cleansing" those who'd hurt the "MotherLand" is infectious. As he's proved with over two decades of elected mandate, and effortlessly crushing any opposition and opponents to his crusade, his force is not to trifle with.

The Final Solution by Rakesh Sharma, thankfully available in good quality on Youtube (for now), is also important at this point in history because we're on the verge of electing our new Prime Minister. Unfortunately, hate-mongers find it easier to exploit the polarization in society and gain ardent followers, rather than those who talk about peace and concessions. It is very easy to divert attention from the broken hull and instead claim that throwing a few people overboard will keep everyone afloat. By the time people realize it didn't work, and that everyone is drowning, it is too late. The shock value of Final Solution, to me, was not in how the administration perpetrated genocide; rather, it was in the honest, widespread and, indeed, CASUAL acknowledgment by the majority community: "Yes, we did it. So what? They had it coming...". Somehow, Modi's fiction has found its audience-- and not just in Gujarat. People are willing to suspend disbelief, and overlook obvious plot-holes, to live that dream where everything will be OK once the Muslims are eradicated.

The tales of human tragedy, the families split apart, the generations wiped out, the mutilated bodies are heart rending, yes. Even more is the way mobs attacked different parts of the state at the same time, in almost every case, accompanied by cops to make sure no one escapes. The few voices of dissent and sanity were killed, by questioning their patriotism or politics. Proved crimes, such as recorded speeches or fake encounters, were simply ignored till the public forgot.

The Final Solution is not a chest-beating apology for the minority. It is a gripping and honest record of what happened. At no point does it demonize Modi or his cronies. You draw your own conclusions from speeches they never deny making. That's when you feel that cold shudder down your spine.

He could be the PM one day. The dread sinks in that the parallels with another such brilliant and deadly figure in history is no exaggeration.

Is the Gujarat model of development - one of the central themes of this year's Lok Sabha election - a hype or a success built around concepts pioneered by Narendra Modi? Experts at a book release function agreed that the Gujarat or 'Modi model' was about economic freedom, innovation and creating a sense of pride among people.

The book, 'Centrestage - Inside the Modi Model of Governance' , authored by Uday Mahurkar, was released Thursday evening by Aroon Purie, editor-in-chief of India Today group. Its among the growing pile of new books timed to enter the public discourse during the elections.

Economist Bibek Debroy said that the Gujarat model was not merely about GDP growth numbers but "about certain principles" such as public-private partnership concerning the corporate as well as the social sector. He said that Modi, the Gujarat chief minister who is prime ministerial candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party, had sought to empower bureaucracy and showed that even the poor were willing to pay if services were efficient.

Debroy said the Bharatiya Janata Party had indicated that it was in favour of decentralization and relaxing rigidity of central schemes.

"Getting rid of subsidies will be incentivized through tweaking of central schemes (if Modi becomes prime minister)," he said.

He said the country needs a good administrator as "we don't know if a PM exists."

Surjit Bhalla, economist and chairman of Oxus Investments, said the book gives a close understanding of "how Modi's mind works." He said that it was difficult to maintain a constant high growth rate but Gujarat had done it under Modi.

Bhalla also said that agriculture growth story in Gujarat was "genuine." It is very hard to get average agricultural growth rate above 3.5 percent on a sustained basis. He (Modi) has achieved it for 10 years," Bhalla said.

Bhalla said large part of Gujarat model was economic freedom.

"Basically the philosophy (under Modi) will be a lot more economic freedom," he said. Bhalla added that Modi had turned several loss making state undertakings into profitable entities.

Management expert Sunil Alagh said that Modi was an action-oriented leader and will implement the BJP manifesto which has his imprint. Narrating how Modi had used the 'chaiwala' (tea seller) jibe at him to his advantage, Alagh said Modi's team was efficient and delivers on what their leader instructs.

He said Modi had taken his cabinet to IIM Ahmedabad for lectures on good governance months after he took over as chief minister of Gujarat.

He said the Modi government should give priority to improving infrastructure.

Releasing the book, Purie said it talks about how fundamentals of governance has been changed by Modi at the ground level.

Purie said Modi believed that people were willing to pay if there was quality in service and Gujarat had sought to move away from dole style of governance. He said Modi had sought to tackle "lethargy of bureaucracy", had used technology aggressviely to reach out to people, given "wonderful taglines" to his programmes and tried to be innovative by doing old things differently.

Mahurkar, a senior editor with India Today who has been following Modi's career since 1986, said that the Gujarat chief minister was a controversial person and he had thought that writing a balanced book will be a difficult task.

He said Gujarat's state gross domestic product grew by over 12 percent between 2007 and 2012. He said Jyotigram was a landmark scheme and Modi government had laid 90,000 km of transmission lines in 1,000 days, something that was done in over 40 years in Gujarat.

He said per capita income had grown in the state and Muslim community had progressed in terms of economic indicators.

"The argument that development has backed only the affluent class in wrong if you go by the figures."

He said Modi had restructured power sector by taking tough decisions and sought to free governance from vote-bank consideration.

"I call Modi master of convergence," Mahurkar said.

He said Modi had sought to create pride in people and based his model on "oneness."

He said that the policy adopted by Modi had helped to bring down price of solar power, boosted micro irrigation and taken steps to raise water table in the state.

I have been to Gujarat four times since I been migrated to NZ 15 years ago. Everytime I m just 😲 I cant even recognize my town Bardoli. Progress everywhere. My neighbors who were lower middle class family.. sold their 2 Bingha jameen for whooping 3 Crs.. there bunglows after bunlows in not just Surat city but in towns and in villages. And then NRI (Gujjus)season comes from Oct to feb. And the prices r sky high.. the roadside dookanwalas have board everywhere.. saying NRI special.. 😆 Agriculture is suffering coz land prices r too high to ignore and its gonna end up in buildings and malls and shops etc.

And yes, I always land in Mumbai, have seen enuff of Maharashtra, went to Rajashtan 3 times for week long, been to delhi and Agra-Tajmahal 3 times and upto Hridwar-Hrishikesh.. seen some develpoments there too.. nothing compared to Gujarat. The whole infrastructure, middle r getting to rich, rich r getting even richer.. and poor ppl carrying cellphones and ll the essentials- bike, tv, cable, fridge etc..

I m happy.. and Namo cant take all the credit but hez been the leader who does what he says.. even thou some ppl get 😡 overall.. this is the kind of leader we want. Rather than some1 who doesnt know P of politics or some1 only D for Dharna.

Well, U have diff. views abt Namo.. its all good. Lets wait for election results.

Can anyone answer,.. then how come so many Police and Hindus also died??

I tell you,...'Coz it was a riot like any others, and not intended to fan the flame to let the dogs run over Muslims, by MODI.

Also if MODI was a culprit and guilty, Supreme court is not any " Sagi " ( kith and kin ) of Modi
and should had not hesiated or spared a bit, to hang up an Ordinary Chai waalaa, with no royal dynasty or political background Maharathees.

about a year+ ago Ahmedabad was considered as the best living city in India,
also MODI is right. ( in recent,... aap ki adalat ) During Navaratri season, whole night, till 4 O' clock in morning,
you see lots of young girls , nicely garba dressed in saris/half saris, on a scooters/mopeds all alone, on all major roads
- far area's beyond the river, CG, satelite and other roads,.. riding all alone,...and no fear or,... any rape/chhedkhaani or such,...

IMO,.. MODI can only try and do his level best. Every state has its budget limitations and,... still a smart politician can make some smart decisions, say,... give land to Ambani, Adani for more industrialization for some bright upcoming businesses, bringing more jobs, bringing more foreign income,... and running the economy on a full-high gear,.. and that's how you advance and progress,..

I am from Gujarat, and still I agree that in certain areas,.. Nehru was a little better choice in other regards over Sardar patel ( as this guy was a slight jud(rigid) budhdhi too ) as he(Nehru) was smart in that regard of Industrialization, Steel manufacturing, machines and advancement,... which Patel could had perhaps never done it
nor could had influence the British for any energy needs be it Iron ore, Uranium, Thorium, or Plutonium ! Nehru broght Steel ke kaarkhaane to the Nation.

Sonia has tried her best in last many years,..so that Modi can not pass his loans for Gujarat's welfare , and hence Modi has to keep Industrialist in his hand
and by using them ( also pleasing them ) can get the work done, the best he can,...by favoring them also, in turn.

No state is perfect and every state has its diff resources and limitations,.. say wheat fields, sugarcane, wind and tidal power, cloth-mills, Salt, Rice, oil plans, port business, fishing, Sports and Stadiums, worth-seeing, tea, tobacco, Power plants, ... etc Hence a state can not be rich it all its regards. But still a smart politician can make the most out of water dams, its other resources, mad, developing skills, ( liek Modi did for Solar panel Canals ) developing parks, tourism, by solving certain disputes of river, water, dams with neighbor nations or state... etc .

Like modi did and drew Narmada n' Saraswati river's water and made
Sabatrmati flowing to both its banks,... etc.

A decisive and stamina n' spirit-ful politician can do a lot,
and hence Gujarat waasis have trust in Modi
and they do not whin on,.. "Why certain villages still have no electricity,... And why still cottages/slums on the Sabarmati river bank,..yet etc.
That is AK's department to pick and point,... and finger-pointing and mud-slinging, while doing nothing !!

This guy ( Modi ) is a problem solver and in his office too, doing the same work of others' - small and big problem solving, with courage, promise and if needed with a 'red eye'
but unlike Thackreys, without using any goons and going for any tod-fods or maar-peets !

For example,... in Pakistan the gas ( petrol ) is pretty cheap, but for us, the pipe line comes traveling all the way,..thro' the land in Pakistan and hence we pay a bucket load for a gallon of petrol,... Now if somewhere these kind of " Samzautaas" be resolved,
Be it for other air, land or marine cargo or energy crisis items,...it can ease the price on many such import items, and only a smart politician like Nehru / IG can do it !

Indira was also keen on getting Uranium from US at that time,.. and only a smart ruler can make certain differences, while making few agreements very wisely.

In terms of elections, no one is dhooth ka dhoola, so choosing the lesser evil makes me wanna take Modi's name. He indeed is someone who seem to have the capacity to walk his talks.

As for the riots, they have happened even under Congress several times including the Sikh genocide after Indira's death. So the argument against Modi, who got a clean cheat from Supreme court, doesn't hold much value. Congress' track record isn't impressive from any angle to get elected time and again. I mean you don't want Modi, fine. But what are the other options ? AAP that has no clue what they are doing in the field OR Congress that hasn't done much for the country than give us Inflation and more corruption year after year. So all in all, it comes down to choosing someone who is relatively better for the country than trying to look for saints in these political leaders.

Baazigaar: Nobody is saying Gujarat is perfect, it is not the first in GDP contribution, nor at the top in attracting FDI. It also suffers from ill-distribution of development in certain far-flung and tribal areas, and its maternal and infant mortality rate is of serious concern. But what shines through all that is, that it is still the most economically prosperous State in India. It was before as well, but NaMo's pro-Industrial and pro-agricultural policies undoubtedly maintained AND advanced it. According to the CSO, Gujarat topped the list of States with an agricultural growth of 9.8% in the 2000's, when the overall growth was 3.3. Farmers are ensured enough compensation for the land acquired for agriculture (remember the village of crorepatis near Sanand), provision for 24*7 electricity and drinking water supply in villages, good roads, reduction in the number of school dropouts, double-digit growth since 2002, all point to a rapid IMPROVEMENT from what Gujarat was prior to Modi.

Gujarat doesnt have natural resources, tourism attractions, not even enuff water. And still its prospeorus state. It has its up n down in 60s 70s 80s 90s, and then communal riots really tasted the character of Modi- the newbie. The media fulled it by showing grusome pics from the train to streets... and showing figures how many Hindus killed and how many muslims killed. It was out of control of Namo.. even he requested media not to use Hindu/muslim words.. just how many Gujju Indians been killed.

But neighboring states kept quiet.. surprized even thakrey's shiv sena kept quiet. Central gvrnmnt kept quiet and it was all on Modi's shoulders.. Thats the price he paid for being BJP CM and central was rulled by Congress. If u dig deeper.. Godhra kaaand was supported by Congress.. and the congress leader didnt allow cops or fire trucks or ambulance to reach the burning boggies and ppl inside it to rescue. PPl only rem what happened after that.. just ask urself a question if that happens to ur country how wud the ppl wud react? Usa ruined 2 countries for 9/11 attacks. Namo made Gujarat a model state.

Supreme court has cleared Namo long time ago. And western world is preparing to congratulate Namo. USA who has worst forreign astrocities record cancelled Namos visa coz he was blamed for Guajarat riots.. And howcome Bush and Blaire r not in international court for crime against humanity for attacking Iraq for having WMDs which was never there. ???

On positive side, Namo is better speaker than Sardar Patel, As good as walk the talk, Wont bow down to some mahatma Gandhi's request.. he was supposed to be the first PM.. but Nehru.. took Kashmir issue to Un.. and its been headhache for ever since. How many soldiers and civilians have died since.. 80, 000? the jannat became jahannum.

But now we have a candidate that can speak like US presidents.. gives adrenaline rush.. who then use heavy hand on some beurocratics and make decisions that may very unpopular in some parts of country but good for whole nation.

UK PM has already said Namo becomes PM we r happy to meet him and congratulate him. Obama wont be far away.. "sorry bro.. we cancelled ur visa.. in fact Bush shud not be allowed to go anywhere outside farm".
