Yes you heard it right. The buzz is that the SOTY director is keen to cast the Superstar in his magnum opus opposite Deepika Padukone. Ever since the original cast quit, various names ranging from King Khan to DP's boyfriend Ranveer Singh to ex Ranbir Kapoor have been thrown around. But looks like the role finally landed in the Superstar's lap. Karan Johar is said to have flown to Chennai and narrated the script to Rajnikanth. The actor was apparently bowled over by the script and has tentatively given his nod to the same. When we messaged KJo, he replied saying talks are on but nothing is confirmed as yet.
