i jus dont see whats there to mk such a big fuss about...bebo has really matured over time n those days r long gone when she used to mk W*F statements...i guess people jus needed sum ignition to say sumthing abt bebo as the media needs headlines everyday...hence fuelling up a simple statement into sumthing so big as to mk it look like bebo is mocking those who fast...but hell no...she didnt say ny such thing...she jus talkd abt herself but givwn her huge stardom it was made into a national issue...

I'm with Kareena on this. I am the religious types but the whole Karva Chauth thing has always baffled me. Like one of the tweets said, I get the whole sentiment behind the fast but the gaudy outfits and the ugly gold jewelery is just torture to eyes. .

I don't find anything wrong in decking up for husbands.
Back in the days, housewives hardly had a chance to look good and have some "me" time.
Henna on hands and all that jazz, pretty clothes, jewelry why not?

What I don't understand is Karva4th. Like its just a myth and a story is what is read to married ladies. Not even proper mantras or havan to conduct in order to prolong his life.

I always ask mom that what story was narrated to Roli, the queen? Yeah that karvachauth story girl Roli or whatever her name is.😆

Our culture promotes sexism, through and through. Mahaan culture.
Rakhi : Brother's long life
Karvachauth : Husband's long life.
Ahoi : Son's long life.

@TVdekha,

There is a strong reason for this sexism.
All this tradition of fasting by women started many centuries ago, when men used to go on wars etc...and ofcourse, used to die in the thousands.
Women had a relatively safe and secure life compared to them.
I think that is how the tradition of keeping fasts for the men in your life started!
But ofcourse, now (especially in India), being a woman is far more dangerous than being a soldier at the battlefront!
Would make a lot of sense if men started keeping fasts for the welfare and long life of the women in their lives! (If keeping a fast does make a difference. I do keep fasts, but I don't really believe that they work!😆)
PS: My theory on the rabid popularity of KC is that it was kick-started by Aditya Chopra in DDLJ...till then, it was simply considered to be another hindu festival...but after that film, it became a National Celebration of sorts! Our films do have that sort of influence on the aam junta!

We were told the story of Queen Veera or something. 😆 Same one about how she broke her fast early and her husband almost died? The she did a lot of tapasya but when he woke up he thought the maid was the wife? so queen became maid and maid became queen. but after a long time and lots of prayer, the king's memory came back. 😆 When I was young, I told my dadi it was a ridiculous story and made no sense... Needless to say dadi was very upset and I was told to leave. 😆😆

Anyways, I don't think I personally agree with Karva Chauth but if others do, then its their belief and prerogative.

But Rits... you gotta see some of these women.. one here actually does the whole bindi's on her brows and shit..😆😆 Then again, it might not be the Karva Chauth, it could just be bad bad fashion sense.

Roli? Hmm never heard that. My mum use to fast before, she no longer does. LOL. Everyone else does it in my family, from aunts to cousins. I for one shall never partake in that. SMH..

And hi5 on the sexist bit you put down.. Mahaan culture indeed.

its personal choice if one wants to follow the ritual or deck up or not...depends on the person's beliefs...
Its considered auspicious for the husband/house/family in hindu culture for women to wear lots of gold, deck up with bindis and all...my mum told me it has something to do with inviting godess lakshmi to the house or something...

Who cares. You wanna fast, go ahead. You don't wanna fast, go get Chinese takeout.

Poppy : Yeah I am sure that is one of the reasons. Considering widows had a miserable life oh wait no life after husband's death. Reference to sati.
Hima : Oh yeah!! Veera she was. There is this line when the king confuses his maid as rani which goes like this : Rani thi jo woh roli/goli/poli ho gayi. r/p/goli thi woh rani ho gayi.😆
I once said "hey bhagwan phir se wahi boring kahaani sun ni paregi." I was frowned upon.

Meena : I know man. Some ladies go crazy. Growing up in India, I saw it all. I used to like KC as a kid because teachers would talk less and most of the time we would end up having a free period. SCORE!!

Kareena home workout routine!!!

I like it how she doesn’t follow other actresses going to gyms and getting photographed. She keeps it simple at home...
