Top 10 Bollywood Actors Who Should Stop Dancing
There are few film industries in the world which place as much importance on a hero's dancing skills as Bollywood does.
They can enthrall us with their action sequences, thriller movies and macho performances – but these 10 actors should stop dancing and would be wise to say no to dance numbers in their films!
Ajay Devgn
The actor himself admits that dancing is his weakest point – so at least there's someone who is not disillusioned. Some people can learn how to dance, others just do a stiff jig. Ajay Devgn can stand on two moving bikes, but should stop dancing. Nobody wants a 'Himmatwala' repeat.
Nana Patekar
Making Nana Patekar dance is just cruel! He is already a brilliant actor and can do comic and serious roles with equal ease – what more do the directors want? His moves in 'Welcome' make you wonder if this is the same man from 'Ab Tak Chhappan' and 'Apaharan'. Bollywood directors, do let the poor dear be – and not make him dance.
Arjun Rampal
Arjun Rampal is hot, an impeccable dresser and a decent actor too. But you cannot possibly say that he is a good dancer in your right mind. You saw him try in 'Moksha' and 'We Are Family' – and it is nothing inspiring. Better to leave him with serious, hunky roles that just require his biceps and deep voice – and that's that.
Sunny Deol
Watching the song 'Yaara O Yaara' from the 1996 movie 'Jeet' is just painful – for two reasons. We will discuss Karishma Kapoor's pre-makeover pink avatar some other day. But Sunny Deol's dance! It is something between King Kong on acid and a malfunctioning bulldozer – that man is too stiff to be allowed to dance. Somebody tell him wielding his muscles and stomping around is not dancing.
Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt has impressed us enough with his acting and depressed us with his criminal charges – but his dancing leaves us bemused. His otherwise tall frame and nonchalant body language make for a very awkward dancer – which, though we find funny and charming, has nothing to do with being a good dancer. Recall the 'M Bole To' number from 'Munna Bhai M.B.B.S' and cringe!
Salman Khan
People are divided as to the dancing skills of this actor – half of them would say that he is the best thing to happen to Bollywood dance since a long time. Others would remember the 'Maine Pyar Kiya' disaster and just snigger. No doubt, Sallu Bhai does have a unique dancing style – but whether it is any good is suspect.
Sunil Shetty
This Bollywood actor's poor dancing skills failed him in becoming a great romantic hero. Nobody should have to endure the humiliation that Shetty's dance 'Dil Tera Deewana' from the movie 'Raghuveer' must have caused him. Stick to comedy, stick to action – but please stop dancing!
Abhishek Bachchan
We are not saying that Abhishek Bachchan cannot dance – we are saying that he just should not. If you observe his dance numbers, there is something slightly forced and slightly effeminate that looks odd on this tall, muscular Bachchan Junior. He can stick to 'Bluffmaster' type hip-hop videos, but no one should be subjected to his 'Nach Baliye' dance in 'Bunty Aur Babli'.
Himesh Reshammiya
He did venture into acting – and by default he makes this list. This Bollywood actor attempt at shaking a leg in 'Tandoori Nights' in the film 'Karzzz' was disastrous. He should probably stick to what he apparently does best – sing nasally songs.
Dharmendra
He could not do it in the original 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' song from 'Pratigya' – he cannot do it in the 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' movie series. The only man from the Deol family who can relatively dance better is Bobby Deol. But papa Dharmendra is just looks funny with his awkward moves.
This is not to say that we denigrate these Bollywood actors totally – they are good actors, some even great. But dancing is not their forte for sure. Better leave that to the ladies, and stand by the sidelines when the songs start playing in their movies.
