Third film with Sonam!

Rakeysh Mehra wants her in his next; says she is destined for big things

After Hrs Correspondent

Sonam Kapoor has been directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra twice now — Delhi 6 and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (which releases today). However, she didn't have much to do in both the films, where the protagonists were the male actors Abhishek Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar respectively.
Both the films didn't offer substantial space to Sonam to display her chops as an actress, and the director wants to change that in their third film together which is a period love-story Mirza Sahiban. And this time Sonam would have a lot more to do. "We're working on the script, trying to polish it as much as we can. But yes, that's my next one," says Rakeysh.
Speaking from Dubai, Rakeysh says, "Sonam, like everyone else got associated with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag because she believed in it. I mean, look at the man. We grew up reading about Milkha Singh. Stories about him are part of folklore. Sonam knew it was not a lengthy role. But she knew her role would have an impact."

I think she is going to stick to de-glam roles like Hidimbaakshi.
Which I know works in their favor.😊

Sonam would be perfect for the role and ROM is a good director for Sonam...perhaps Sonam needs to improve her acting via these type of roles first before exploring more.

I think Sona is a good actor, but besides that I am excited about a hindi movie on Mirza-Sahiba - it's my favorite love story!

Sigh, Mirza Sahiba.. my favourite love story. Sonam would fit in as Sahiba perfectly, I just hope they take a proper "Mirza" type of actor too. It was already a disaster enough for me to see Dhanush calling himself "Raanjha" in the title song of the film 🤣

Interesting...she can deffo play Sahibaa...even more so going by her punjabi kudi stint in BMB if the promos are anything to go by...but it depends on who they cast as Mirza too.

I'm a little wary of ROM trying a historical/folk-tale storyline though.
