I loved the movie b/c it had all my favorite people: SRK-Aish had the finest chemistry needed for Dev-Paro. Honeslty, this modern version was way better than the black and white version just b/c it was so aesthetically appealing. Sisila, Dola Re, Hamesha song sequences with all the colors, candles, and set designs just made it all so beautiful. Even the Bairi Piya outfits and jola was so beautiful.

I know it dragged a lot towards the middle, but it wasn't a masala flick, but a performance-oreinted film so what do you expect. As for the acting, I think it was some of the finest we're seen from all 3 leads.

A lot of people loved Devdas and that's probably why so many are hestitantly to re-make it since SLB's version left such a drastic impression. Devdas is actually lucky it came out when it did, b/c 2002 was generally a bad year in BW when only like 5-6 films overall did well. And Devdas released at a time when all the other films were doing bad, the strong star casts, the plesant music, the costumes, the way Aishwarya looks in the movie = probably the best that she's ever looked in any film, and the Cannes/international attention helped boost the fim's interest and publicity. I'm positive if the same film released now, it probs wouldn't have done as well. Timing was key!

Besides, the dances and the outfits started such a huge trend. Everyone wanted the Dola Re saris, Paro's puffy sleeves (which are still popular today), the bracelet Dev gives Paro--a lot of newly wed brides wanted their hubbies to make them a bracelet jsut like that or something similiar. I know the original saris that Madz/Aishu wore sold for a shit load of money.

I really wish that hug happened in real! ASAD is such a kharoos! he is in total denial about the love he feels for Zoya! MB is ok, I hate the way the present Bollywood in it though! RK looks nothing like a hero! as u can see I am totally obsessed with SARASWATICHANDRA!!😳

OMG!!! Everything abt Devdas was too loud...the sets, the OTT acting of SRK nd Aish nd the other characters like Kiran Kher...everything.🤢
The only saving grace for me was Madhuri, who was the only one who could hv got away wid being OTT coz of her character, but she was theonly one who gv a restrained performance.
Music was good too.😊
