Actor Emraan Hashmi has acted in several films based on the paranormal and the supernatural. In real life, however, he's known to be rather skeptical about these subjects. Recently, he was quite shocked to know that witches exist and not only in rural areas, but also in metropolitan cities.

According to sources from the production house, it was while shooting for his film Ek Thi Daayan that the topic came about. "People on the sets were discussing the existence of witches when Emraan revealed that he didn't believe that they exist. Emraan said that it was mostly all hearsay and found it hard to believe director Kannan Iyer who told him that there were people who practice and believe in witchcraft even in educated cultures," says the source.

The source adds that Emraan was not ready to believe this till Kannan introduced him to crew members who had researched the subject. "The crew members told Emraan that there are people who practice witchcraft and that the magic could be white (healing) magic or dark," adds the source.

In fact, the crew members took Kannan and Emraan around the city to meet a few of them. "He was also taken to homes that displayed signs and symbols that are used in the study of the occult, mainly to do with the cult of Wicca, on their doors and windows. Only then did he believe that these cults exist," adds another unit member."But what shocked him the most was that some of these houses were in posh residential areas, which reflected the existence of Wiccans in modern society. Of course, we all learnt that while there were daayans, there were also witches who practice witchcraft for the good of others. There were many misconceptions that were dispelled, even though there's still much unknown about them," adds the source.

I actually do! I believe in God and also believe in devil. For every yin there is a yang. So for me God and witches exist. And for non-believers these are metaphors for good and bad people.

I don't believe in them Abby and not even in ghosts. But one of our family friends lived in a haunted house and the spirit or ghost or whoever did not allow him and his wife to move out

Apparently his wife found some old knife from underground during constructions of their new house and she has kept it with her. It was later found out that a boy was stabbed by that knife 20-30 years back. This boy was haunting their house ever since. Anyways they went through hell struggling to get through that phase

I still force myself to believe in these things for their sake but it's still bizarre to swallow

Thanks for sharing the story Nadz

So how did they get out of the house safely then?? Just curious

Yea I won't believe in ghost or black magic stuff until I or someone close to me experiences it...as they say you need to see something to believe it

@Abby
Oh it's a long story. They did various religious things but it was a Buddhist monk who helped them to flee from that graveyard. The monk did some pirith chanting contineously for some 7 or 8 days which is a Buddhist ritual to protect the two of them from the spirit. His chanting was powerful enough for them to move out but the house

As per the monk, these two are not allowed to even step anywhere close to that area

Sadly this monk does not have enough strength or power to remove the spirit/ghost completely from that land so it's still haunted

I forgot mention the best part. The guy was somewhat affected by this spirit or ghost. He started to lose his conscious from time to time and it was believed that the ghost was trying to get control of his body

Ayo it was a day time nightmare but luckily his wife was such a strong woman. She's my super gurl because if it wasn't for her determination and courage, they would not have survived this crisis
