All the instances given in the article were confirmed by the makers themselves. So I guess they were all true. But Gunday was a curious case...when Katrina 'rejected' Gunday YRF made it seem that PC was chosen since acting was required. But pray if that was the case why was Katrina approached anyway? But Katrina's reaction to that was Kareena like...she ensured that her PR got out articles on how SHE rejected the movie and not the other way round.

It's just my opinion as it shows your frustrations quite clearly. One tends to bash stars who they are obsessed with. Why do I feel you are more obsessed with kat than even bebo? Ok I don't need to be judgemental maybe I am getting carried away but you still need to tone down your unnecessary criticism of stars. It does show a lot about your mentality don't mind ok. Well said.. I'm a silent reader of the various posts in this forum and I completely agree with what u have said!! 😊

Katrina is super star with regard to BO for sure but as an actress, she's got a long way to go. The only somewhat decent performance I've seen of her is Zindagi milegi

Honestly she's boring onscreen for me but not for the guys for sure 😆

Critics said one thing and that was that she is the life of the movie and reason they liked the movie, they called her the hero of the movie. Even though they didn't like the scripts and her co-stars was new comer ali and new actor imran who is not even half as popular as katrina.

She didn't win best actress at filmfare for new york, your source is as baseless as your statements about her not having BO power 😆

At least she made TMK work with SKJ, now how many managed making a awful movie work with just a song 😉

Yeah I found that on wiki and was quite doubtful too thats why.I didnt say she doesnt have the BO power but I said that she CANT act.MBKD?She acted in that movie?Puhleez just because her co stars were more bad than her doesnt mean her performance was good. And again you got me wrong buddy I didnt say she is bad at item numbers but I would say she is the best at boob shaking department but then again acting?Seriously if you say she acted in TMK then I dont have a argument for that.

Yes MBKD. She was fantastic in the movie and played the bubbly and vibrant girl to perfection. Most of the critics praised her and said she is the best thing about the movie, which she clearly was. Her acting was amazing in this movie, and she was hell funny.

Don't make blind accusations honey, I only talked about SKJ nothing more it's you who talk about her role and now that you talking about her role then yeah even though her role was very small then she did well with portraying a bimbo and made everyone laugh with all the make up dialogues in the cinema I went too.

Most of the critics praised Katrina Kaif in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan? Can we have some quotes from respected journalists please. Can't keep making statements without backing them up.

I watched the film. I enjoyed it. Katrina was good in it. Nothing special though. Definitely not worthy of a nomination for Best Actress. That was one of the biggest jokes of last award season. The other one was Rani Mukherji (No One Killed Jessica) not being nominated in that same category. Even Kareena Kapoor in Ra.One and Bodyguard was more worthy.

The film worked not because of Katrina but mainly because of the director. Then the stars and the hit music. In my opinion Imran Khan was the star of the show, followed by Katrina and Ali Zafar.

here is a review by koimoi defining kat as one of the pluses, not imran or ali zaffar

Business rating: 3/5 stars

Star cast: Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan, Ali Zafar, Tara D'Souza.

What's Good: The entertaining screenplay; the emotional undercurrent of the drama; Katrina Kaif's fantastic performance; the hit music and the eye-pleasing song picturisations.

What's Bad: The screenplay dips at a few places; a few comic scenes seem forced.

Verdict: Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has reasonable entertainment value, very good music, exciting song picturisations which will all result in a good run at the box-office.

Loo break: None really.

Watch or Not?: Watch it for Katrina Kaif's fine performance and Ali Abbas Zafar's direction.

Yash Raj Films' Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a love story. Kush Agnihotri (Imran Khan) works as an assistant director in Bollywood. His elder brother, Luv Agnihotri (Ali Zafar) has a job in London. Luv has just had a break-up from his girlfriend of several years, Piyali (Tara D'Souza). Luv telephones Kush, asking him to bride-hunt for him. He's confident that his younger brother would be able to find a girl of his taste, as both the brothers have similar tastes. Now begins Kush's hunt for a duhlan for his brother. After many failed attempts, he finally meets Dimple Dixit (Katrina Kaif), daughter of a bureaucrat (Kanwaljeet), when her father invites Kush in response to a matrimonial ad for Luv. Kush is shocked to meet Dimple as he knows her as a wild, fun-loving, bold but endearing girl whom he had met five years ago on an excursion. The two families also approve of the liaison and so preparations for the marriage of Luv and Dimple begin in right earnest. Although the Agnihotris live in Dehradun, the marriage is scheduled to be held in Delhi where the Dixits stay. In the course of the preparations, Dimple and Kush fall in love with one another, a fact Dimple realises on the first day she goes out with Luv when he arrives in Delhi from London for the marriage. Dimple speaks her heart out to Kush who takes a little longer to realise that he too is in love with her.

Dimple forces Kush to elope with her. Does Kush oblige? Is it so easy for the two lovers to unite? Or do they sacrifice their love for one another? Does Luv get to know that he is about to get married to a girl who loves his brother and whom his brother too loves? And what about Piyali? Answers to these questions are revealed in the latter part of the film.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan Review ' Script Analysis

Ali Abbas Zafar's story is based on the age-old formula of a love triangle and is not really novel. However, the screenplay, also penned by Ali Abbas Zafar, keeps the audience involved and engrossed at all times. The story unfolds in such a manner that the viewers are eager to know what is going to happen next. At places, the screenplay dips and the pace also slackens but overall, Ali Abbas Zafar manages to make the script impactful. The emotional points of the drama touch the heart, especially the scene where Dimple tells Kush that she has fallen in love with him. Also, the scene in which Kush feels miserable about falling in love with the girl whom he has selected as his brother's wife touches a chord.

The emotional undercurrents in the drama make it more than just a light-hearted comedy. But what prevents the film from becoming a memorable love story is that the emotions don't come full throttle. Also, right till the time Luv gets married, he doesn't realise the truth about Kush and Dimple's affair. The track of Kush and Dimple trying hard to take Luv out of their way looks a bit forced and slightly unbelievable. Nevertheless, the youth will enjoy the drama. The dialogues are good and entertaining at the same time. The youngsters will definitely identify more with the dialogues than the older generation.
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan Review ' Star Performances

Imran Khan does a fine job. He is more relaxed in the comic scenes as compared to his previous films. Katrina Kaif looks beautiful and endears herself to the audience. Her performance is absolutely fantastic. Katrina will also earn brownie points for her graceful dances. Ali Zafar acts with effortless ease except when he goes a bit overboard in some scenes. He looks cute. Tara D'Souza stands her own.
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan Review ' Direction

Debut-making director Ali Abbas Zafar has handled the film in a mature way. He succeeds in keeping the audience engaged for most of the duration of the drama and he has packaged the film in a very appealing manner. Music (Sohail Sen) is a big plus point of the film as all the songs are very appealing. Dhunki, Madhubala, Isq Risk and the title track are truly entertaining numbers. The lyrics (Irshad Kamil) of the Isq Risk song are very meaningful and take the drama forward. Song picturisations (Bosco-Caesar) are youthful, colourful and eye-filling. Background score is good. Sudeep Chatterjee's camerawork is splendid. Ritesh Soni's editing could've been slightly sharper.
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan Review ' Verdict

On the whole, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has reasonable entertainment value, very good music, exciting song picturisations and an impressive start to make it a rewarding experience for all concerned.

MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN Review: Katrina Kaif holds a crumbling film together

SHWETA PARANDE6.18 PM IST 09.09.2011

The actor enacts her lively, spunky, rockstar babe role with ease, as against the mellowed Imran

Yet another shaadi flick from Bollywood ' and Yash Raj Films. This time, starring Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan and Ali Zafar. While the film's title (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan) might make you cringe and think it's a version of Sorry Bhai, it's not. Neither is it in the genre of Band Baaja Baaraat or Hum Aapke Hain Koun! Rather, MBKD is lighthearted, but tries too hard to be funny at places.

The film opens in London with Luv Agnihotri (Ali Zafar) going through a breakup with his longtime girlfriend Piali Patel (Tara D'Souza). Minutes after slamming the door on her, Luv calls up his assistant director brother Kush (Imran Khan) in Mumbai, asking him to search for a bride for him since Luv has always been unlucky in love.

Kush is only too happy to oblige. Followed by some predictable scenes of meeting potential dulhans and rejecting them. A huge matrimonial ad in a newspaper finally solves the problem (though how a middle-class family could afford it, is another question). That's where the twist in the tale happens. Bride-to-be Dimple Dixit (Katrina Kaif) ' has a 'friendly' past with Kush, and sparks fly as soon as they see each other, and through the wedding preparations. How Kush finally gets together with Dimple is through some unrealistic situations, but those seem fine in a 'rom-com'. (Remember Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani?)

MBKD loses its grip considerably post interval. That happens to many films, you might say, but this one drags a bit too much, especially after you've had a good lunch. You can either have a quick nap or chat on your Blackberry, until the proceedings onscreen somehow manage to wake you up. There is a little twist in the end, but MBKD always tries to be on the funny side. On some occasions when it goes in for some melodrama, it doesn't work. Also, there are references to a number of films and stars, including Aamir, Salman and Shahrukh and their hit films ' along with some old Hindi numbers used for comic effect. Dimple having a dyslexic older brother, too, seems more like a spoof on My Name is Khan.

Imran Khan in yet another romantic film is predictable ' always the cool guy supporting his girl. He is reassuring, to give him his due. Ali Zafar as well as the other supporting actors do a good job. But surely Katrina Kaif carries the film on her nimble shoulders, showing range in her acting for the first time. Her lively, spunky, rockstar babe role has been enacted with ease. While she might have overdone the act at some places, you really can ignore that because that is what the character of pretty Dimple is all about ' unpredictable, fearless in a nonchalant way, funny and animated. She can get away with anything. Katrina not only looks hot but is very comfortable in her skin and is the real hero ofMBKD. But one really doesn't know what the whole hype was about John Abraham's cameo. The dishy actor is hardly in the frame for a few seconds, not even providing for some eye candy (wink, wink).

Music by Sohail Sen is good. Cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee catches the eye. And while writing this, the news comes in that the opening has been good. The film might just be a hit with little competition except Mausam next week. But it is certainly not a film you can call memorable.

TOI review:

"What still makes the film watchable is Katrina's live-wire energy wherein she never goes overboard and keeps bustling with vivacity through the runtime. With Imran Khan restricted in his range and the immensely talented Ali Zafar being reduced to a second fiddle, it's left up to Katrina to save the ship, which she ably does as far as the average script allows her to."

"Katrina Kaif looks gorgeous and her free-spirited act makes you sit through the film."

Rediff review:

"As the maverick Dulhan-to-be, Katrina overshadows her co-stars and a lumpy screenplay by lending her uninhibited fervor to some of MBKD's funniest moments. Like when she breaks into an extempore shehnai rendition fromSwades [ Images ] or plays a rapid fire round with a prospective suitor prompting him to remark, 'Shaadi ke interview mein mujhse Koffee with Karan khel kar chali gayi.'"
