Malamaal Weekly 2 goes on the floors next week. And it is actor Shreyas Talpade and not Riteish Deshmukh who will be playing the romantic lead opposite a new girl.

Like Malamaal Weekly (2006), its sequel too is set in a village with the story revolving around a good-for-nothing Romeo who, despite the continued disapproval of his ladylove's family, finally beats the odds and triumphs.

"I've wanted to work with Priyan sir (director Priyadarshan) for a long time and suddenly, I landed a fantastic role in a hit franchise. I can't thank him enough!" says an excited Shreyas. "In a way Malamaal Weekly 2 reminds me of Iqbal (2005), probably because it's set in a village. I was the second choice for Iqbal too, and Dor (2006) as well. Both films worked wonderfully. I'm hoping this sequel too will be as much fun as the original. Some of the sequences are hilarious and I know I'm going to enjoy the ride for sure."

In Iqbal, Shreyas got to share screen space with Naseeruddin Shah. In Malamaal Weekly 2, he will be teaming with Paresh Rawal, with whom he has worked briefly in Aditya Dutt's upcoming movie, Will You Marry Me (2012), and Nana Patekar. "Naseer and Nana are great actors and a little moody. I'm looking forward to shooting with Nana for the first time in my career," he says.

Meanwhile, in April, another much-awaited sequel, Housefull 2, opens in theatres. Shreyas wasn't a part of Housefull (2010), but is ecstatic to feature in Part 2. "Since the first posters were out, I've been flooded with calls and posts on Twitter and Facebook that I'm looking super cool. It feels good," he says, admitting that he's heard talk about a sequel to Apna Sapna Money Money (2006) coming up too. "If it happens I will be more than happy to return to it."

Early next year, Shreyas starts shooting for Golmaal 4. "We had planned it for 2012 but since Rohit (director Rohit Shetty) is busy with Bol Bachchan (2012), we've shifted it to 2013. After Golmaal Returns (2008) and Golmaal 3 (2010), I'm waiting for more Golmaals," he laughs. "Soon, I will be christened the Prince of Sequels."

I love Asrani and Paresh Rawal in Priyadarshan films. I only watch his films for these two. They are hilarious.😆😆

Love Nana, Asrani, Pappu Kangai, and Paresh Rawal haha. All of them together should be a riot. Hope the movie is as amazing as it's cast! :D

Its not a sequel.. I m not finding this movie much interesting... Malamal weekly was awesome and hilarious!
