Amitabh Bachchan returns in a family entertainer 'Waqt' after being applauded for his acting brilliance in critically acclaimed 'Black'. Amrutlal Shah directs him and Akshay Kumar in 'Waqt' after the stupendous success of crime thriller 'Aankhen' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Ramapal. Shefali Shah plays the wife of Amitabh and Akshay's most compatible co-star Priyanka Chopra plays his love interest. 'Waqt' deals with the family issues as Amitabh plays Akshay's father. Manmohan Shetty produces this under the banner of Blockbusters Movie Entertainers (India). Aatish Kapadia has penned the script, screenplay, dialogues and lyrics (one song) as Shirish Kunder has edited it. Anu Malik has composed the music that ranges from club dance to Holi number, and veteran lyricist Sameer has rendered the lyrics. There are eight original soundtracks of the film on T-Series.

Side A has four soundtracks as the fun loving and cheerful Big B's special number "Miraksam" is the main highlight. A fresh breeze of romance seeps through with the voices of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik in "Subah Hogee". Choreographed on the hottest pair Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra has the finest funky western tunes by Anu Malik. The rhythm of the song has some shades of 80's hit duet "Hum Pyar Mein" from 'Avtar' (Rajesh Khanna and Shabana Azmi starrer). Sameer's lyrics show class by making it authenticate with situation as he reciprocates words "Subah" and "Shaam" with everlasting love.

Big B's special party number comes your way with designer wears and bhangra beats as they thrust the passion of the dance floor with "Miraksam". This is a tailor made track for Amitabh film that has all the ingredients of being a chartbuster. Sudesh Bhosle has his voice with ease after the magnanimous success of "Sona Sona" and "Shava Shava". A trendy and raunchy music with rap initiates the track as the contemporary vocals coagulate with them. Sonu Nigam along with Sunidhi Chauhan and Mahalaxmi joins Sudesh Bhosle very well. The track is a complete family entertainer meant for parties and rock shows. Rap lyrics add youthful zeal and passion to the track that sounds very much like Jazzy B or Jassi track. Ear feasting for bhangra lovers.

A tearful journey of broken relations comes in a soulful voice of Kailash Kher in "Toot Gaya". The singer's voice scales high and low as the lyrics describe the state of a broken heart. The theme of the film finds way through this track as the song describes human emotions with sorrow and grief. Kailash Kher impresses once again after "Allah Ke Bande" and "Yunhi Chala".

"Tandav Music" brings out the passion, zeal and agony through fast and racy orchestration. The track is a brief instrumental piece of work with mixture of Indian classical music that goes with the theme of the film.

Side B has four soundtracks highlighting the "Holi" number and tracks by Adnan Sami, Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. A sensuous and romantic "Chhup Ja" comes in the voice of Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. This is a light soft romantic track exploring the soft corners of passionate heart. Sonu's voice gels well with Sunidhi as it matures into a seductive and heart throbbing soundtrack.

"Tandav Music" repeats again after this duet. Holi song always has significance in Big B's film as the track " Do me a favor let's play Holi" comes in the voice of composer Anu Malik and Sunidhi Chauhan. It starts with traditional Indian classic music as the fusion music takes over. Sunidhi and Anu irritate with their nasal rendition of the word "Holi" but the song turns out to be a winner. It sounds as a fine experimentation of infusing fusion music with fun loving lyrics as it can be treated as a new "item song" for the festival. Cinematography and choreography have a major role as earlier "Holi" tracks from Amitabh's films ('Silsila' and 'Baaghban') were well conceived.

A fast, racy and male dominated track "Apne Jahanke" by Adnan Sami and Sonu Nigam concludes the album. Writer Aatish Kapadia turns lyricist with this track as Anu comes out with funky music. It starts with English lyrics "we are the kings of the world" as Adnan and Sonu oil their vocal chords to its full extreme. The male bonding have been well nurtured in this westernized track with fusion lyrics.

Anu Malik has churned out an above average album that has a couple of promising and heartwarming soundtracks. The music of 'Waqt' should cause a stir as "Holi" track and "Miraksam" may generate passion and fever among youth.
