Shahid: Sonam and I love and hate each other

Shahid Kapoor is busy promoting his upcoming film Mausam these days. The actor is very happy and excited for his long-awaited film, as it's been directed by daddy Pankaj Kapoor. Here is what he has to say about Mausam…

What is Mausam all about?

Mausam is a love story, and about the seasons of love. It is about different emotions and situations that the two protagonists, played by Sonam and me, go through in the film.

You didn't sign or shoot any other movie while making Mausam. Why so?

Mausam is my Dad's film, and a wonderful script. I wanted to be involved in the entire process. Dad was pretty clear about the film, and he also told me that I should not take up any other project while shooting for this film. The film required a certainamount of authenticity, and he wanted me to be completely involved in the film and the look of the character. So, I separated myself from everything else, and got myself totally involved in the making of Mausam.

You play an Air Force officer in Mausam. How did you research the character?

Yes. My father waited for six months before starting shooting for Mausam, and during that time, I did visit some Air Force bases to see how the officers behave and look. I wanted to get their attitude right, little things like the way they walk with their helmets. It was a great experience.

Did you fly an aircraft?

Yes, I flew an F-16 (fighter aircraft) I don't know of any other actor in the world who has flown an F-16. I am really fortunate to have got that opportunity.

How was it working with Sonam Kapoor?

It was great to share the screen with her. She is very different from the people I have worked with till date. We share a love-hate relationship in the film, and in real life too. Sonam is very high on her fashion sense, and whoever doesn't match her fashion standards is not entertained by her. Throughout the making of the film, she gave me fashion gyaan. (smiles)

Mausam is directed by Pankaj Kapur, and stars Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. It is all set to release on 16th September, 2011.
