Chitrangada is female mutant in Krrish 2

After having started er career with offeat films, seems like Chitrangada Singh is ow going commerial with a vengeance. The actor, who debuted with Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi (2003), is all set to play Bollywood's first female mutant in Krrish 2, which sees Hrithik Roshan return in his superhero avatar.

Chitrangada, whose last release was Yeh Saali Zindagi, is also being talked about for her glamorous avatar in Desi Boyz. A unit member from the Rohit Dhawandirected comedy, featuring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, reveals that the actor is matching oomph appeal with Deepika Padukone, the other leading lady in the film.

However, it is learnt that Chitrangada will be at her sexiest in Krrish 2. Reason: her character is apparently inspired by Rebecca Romijn's Raven Darkholme aka Mystique from Hollywood's XMen films. For the uninitiated, Mystique has powers to transform herself to look like whomever she pleases. "Apart from the innate characteristics, Chitrangada's character is ethereal in terms of the look," says our source, adding that the actor recently flew down from Delhi to meet producer-director Rakesh Roshan to finalise her styling.

Apparently, apart from transforming herself to look like Priyanka Chopra (who returns as Krrish's wife), Chitrangada will also be doing some amazing action sequences with the desi superhero. This role was reportedly offered to Katrina Kaif first.

But Chitrangada refused to comment on her part in Krrish 2.

"Hrithik is a fabulous actor and Rakeshji has an amazing record as a superhit creator in the commercial format," says the actor, before reiterating that she never refused to be a part of mainstream cinema. "I was always open to interesting characters. So when something substantial came my way, I took it up. Desi Boyz and Krrish 2 are ample proof of that."

When asked whether she was succumbing to the popular notion that being glamorous is the sure shot means to strengthen one's hold in commercial Bollywood fare, Chitrangada disagrees. She reasons that adding glam quotient just for the sake of it doesn't work, as the audience can't be taken for granted. "As long as I'm comfortable and my character is justified, I've no qualms about its look and styling. If, in the process of performing my character with conviction, I'm considered sexy, I'm okay with that," she says.
