hey all

just wanting to know...which is ur favourite bollywood decade in terms of the films released, the actors and the music??

is it the 50's black and white era, with raj kapoor and guru dutt classics like Aawara, shree 420, kaagaz ke phool, pyaasa etc???

is it the 60's with the beautiful rajesh khanna movies like aradhna, amar prem or the snazzy shammi kapoor ones like teesri manzil, junglee, an evening in paris etc??

is it the 70's with blockbuster movies like deewar, amar akbar anthony, sholay, karz or the hrishikesh mukerjii/gulzar classics like chupke chupke, anand, abhimaan, golmaal, parichay, angoor etc

is it the 80's with the gr8 parallel cinema like arth, ardh satya,Jaane bhi do yaaron, sadma or the full on commercial stuff like Mr india, himmatwala et all...

is it the 90's, with hits like DDLJ, HAHK, MPK, JJWS, hum hai rahi pyaar ke, lamhe, KKHH, DTPH etc etc...

or is it the 2000's, with the new talent like hrithik, kareena, priyanka and everyone making an entry and giving us successful films like DCH, lagaan, K3G, HDDCS, Devdas, JWM et all?

for me, the best decade would have to be the 70's....the films made were so awsome, be it the commercial potboiler stuff like sholay, or the wonderful hrishikesh mukherjii films..plus, there were such fabulous writers like gulzar and saleem javed who wrote such good scripts...and ofcourse, RD burman for composing memorable music...

so which is ur favourite decade?

Nice topic.

Films: Mine would be def the 90s. Those were true blue bollywood films. And since it was during the time I was growing up, so much memories are with this decade! The 2000 decade films were/are a joke...well most of them are!

In terms of favorite actors..decade I like varies. I liked Amitabh, SRK, and bebo. They def are obviously all from different decades.

In terms of music...I like this generations music better.

I know, I wish I watched a lot of old films. I hear my mom saying all the time the old ones are so much better. But I just having seen enough to make the decade my favorite lol. I have seen classics like Sholay, Mother India ect....but not enough to know and experience if the films were actually better back than!

lol..true meena...but for me, having watched most of the films from all the decades, i can say that 70's is my fav because some of the best bolly films were produced in that decade...although i grew up in the 90's and 2000's....objectively, 70's was the best decade for me..

its difficult for to me determine what decade some of the films fall in.. even some of the 80s films.. i'd think they were made in the 70s.. 😆

i can only distinguish the 50s.. i think all of those were B&W

Early 2000s for sure....they weren't the same run of the mill stories of the past, were shorter, and were refreshing

I would say late 90s too, but I've liked films 1997 onwards so that would be an exaggeration😆
