As John Abraham celebrates his 32nd birthday today, girlfriend Bipasha Basu shares with hitList her plans for her the day with boyfriend John. Birthday celebrations
John is recovering. We haven't made any plans of celebrating or doing anything special. It will be normal like every year — quiet and simple. John likes it simple, sickness or no sickness. We are not occasion-oriented people. John doesn't like crowds, noise or celebrations.
Every year we celebrate his birthday the same way — very simple, with family and a couple of close friends who come, wish him and leave. We will cut a cake, but that's from my side, as I love doing these things. Yes, I am giving him a gift, but I can't tell you what it is. It's too personal. My first encounter with John
The first time I saw him was during the Gladrags Manhunt contest when he walked the ramp. I had gone to watch it with my best friend, Suzanne and we were cheering for John as we thought he was the most deserving to win, even though I didn't know him then. I met him for a couple of shows after that but we still hadn't talked to each other. I thought him to be very arrogant as he kept aloof from the rest of us.
We models would mix and chill out together but John would not talk to us. That's because he was an MBA (laughs) and wanted to come across as such. He thought himself to be different from us, I guess (grins). The first time I spoke to John
That's when we broke the ice. I gave him a lift from the Taj to Bandra. It's more than an hour's drive, so we had a long and intelligent conversation.
For the whole drive we talked about vehicles. I had just bought a new Honda City and I was the only person amongst the modelling fraternity to get it at that time. John was very impressed with my new car and through the whole journey we talked about cars. Working with John
Everybody has liked the shampoo ad we did together — from the hoardings to the TV one. It's a very cute ad, which has used both our personalities well. Even old people have liked it.
Recently I was shooting for Corporate at 3.30 am in the night, a Parsi aunty looked at me and said, 'baal nahi hai'. I was shocked and amused that she would remember the ad so late in the night and told her she was very smart to have done that. We'll do more ads if there are good offers. | John's fact file Height: 6' 1" Birthday: 17th December Zodiac Sign: Sagittarius Born in: Mumbai. It's just not my scene", he tells you convincingly. | | What else is happening with Bips? | Bipasha Basu with John Abraham | John Mathew Mathan and Shikhar John is a fabulous human being and I will always remember our association for the rest of my life. He's too humble, nice and simple and won't compromise for anything.
Shikhar is all about people's, wants, needs and ambitions. I play a well-known model, who is manipulating others because she loves someone and is listening to him. It's not a grey character as she's a simple girl who is doing it for love. Madhur Bhandarkar and Corporate Though he's known as a serious maker he has a strong sense of humor and during my most trying days, I had a painful knee and was coping with John's illness, the unit kept my spirits alive with their liveliness and humor. Vishal Bharadwaj's Othello I would love to play the role of Bianca, which they have offered me subject to dates and other things working out. It's a guest appearance but I would love to work with Vishal Bharadwaj and be a part of this film. My other films After Shikhar, there is Phir Hera Pheri, Corporate, Dhoom 2, Abbas-Mastan's next film, a guest appearance in Raj Kanwar's Humko Deewana Kar Gayi and a couple of other projects that are being worked out. | | |
