Ranbir almost drowned

While shooting for Siddharth Anand's 'Anjaana Anjaani', there was a scene which required Ranbir to get into the water. He was supposed to get into the pool for a promo shoot of the film. But what no one knew was that Ranbir is water phobic. He didn't inform anybody on the sets either. Sources inform that while shooting that scene, Ranbir went into the pool and almost drowned when he was in the middle. Initially, everyone thought he was joking and playing a prank. But after some time the unit realized he was actually drowning. The spot boys immediately jumped into the water and saved him. Director Anand was very tense after the incident. It was only after they got him out of the pool that Ranbir revealed that he was water phobic.

I honestly don't know how to respond to something like this. What exactly did Ranbir think was gonna happen? He was gonna automatically learn how to swim (assuming he doesn't know how to) or his so-called "phobia" of water was just gonna disappear? If you're that scared of something, it's prooobaably a bad idea to try and submerge yourself in it. Seems like a pretty avoidable situation.
