Is Vidya Balan underated?

I personally find her to be one of the best we have in cinema today. Shes given her best to all her performances till date.

yh she is underrated i love her acting she has made sum very good movies very underrated indeed

i feel she is shes not the most stunning actress but her acting makes up for it but shes not a beuty queen and hyped like katrina who gets more attention

Agree she is under rated. She has experimented with her roles which makes her a diverse actress.

My first movie of Vidya was Eklavya. I remember watching her in Eklavya and just being blown over by her. Her screen presence was immense especially since she was sharing it with Big B, and Saif.

But then I watched Parineeta and my respect for actresses such as Aishwarya, Rani, Preity died. This woman is the Meena Kumari (well not yet but I know that she will be...:D). At no point did I feel that she was acting in the movie because it was so natural and that she really was Lalita. Some people yammer about "emoting" and all that, but Vidya did that and so much more. She got the posture, elegance, simplicity of Lalita (by which I don't mean just going au natural or shit). She truly was drenched in the characterization of Lalita.
I am still shocked she lost to Rani Mukherjee for the Best Actress.

Vidya might not be the so-called "dazzler" of Bollywood when compared to actresses like Deepika, Kareena etc. Some say she is not pretty but I disagree. There is an elegance in her facial structure that makes me think of the older days and I am not talking aunties. People make fun of her clothes but I think it is rather admirable of her to stand up for wearing the clothing she does. In the world of so-called fashionistas it is great to see a woman who wears hand loom clothes and still manages to look elegant (imo).

So yes. I think she is underrated. I mean checking out her performance in Ishqyia it makes me wonder why more filmmakers are not looking for actresses like her.

She is soooooooooo underrated. Shes one of the best, among the actresses we got!! Ishqiya was amzinggggggggg !! nd Im glad she got the filmfare best actress award because she deserves it, not only for paa but for her previous movies like bhool bhulaiya :D
