Big B's medical connection
Amitabh Bachchan may be unwell, but that did not stop him from being Chief Guest at an event where a charitable trust was given an ambulance.
The donation came from the State Bank of Travancore, and Bachchan handed the keys over to the trust. "Since a very young age, I have been associated with the medical profession. Many of you know that a large portion of my life has been spent in the ICUs of this wonderful city, but that apart, I've always felt that there has been a great need to improve the medical conditions. We have the talent, we have the expertise, the only thing that we lack, perhaps, is the funds to be able to gather the latest equipments and the facilities required to continue this very noble profession," Big B said.
"I've always believed in the medical profession of India. I believe in the doctors and that the entire fraternity is equally proficient as compared to the West. I've always felt that our doctors and our profession are equal to any in the world. And there have been many reasons why I have always decided, whenever I have a medical problem, to trust myself to the medical profession in India and not go outside Indian shores," Bachchan said.
