Just Married: Sania and Shoaib

After crossing all hurdles and overcoming tense moments, Hyderabadi tennis star Sania Mirza finally tied the nuptial knot to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Mailk.

The Nikah took place at the Taj Krishna at about 1 pm and it was purely a private function with around 70 family members and close friends as invitees. Among the visitors, preliminary reports say, were Manchu Vishnuvardhan, Telugu film hero and son of Mohan Babu.

Draped in a traditional red bridal wear, sported by her mother during her wedding 25 years ago, Sania left her house at around 12 noon in her BMW car along with her parents and sister, accompanied by her cousins and other relatives in other vehicles. Shoaib Malik reached the venue from a different spot and he was wearing a black sherwani designed by Shantanu and Nikhil of Mumbai. As Qazis rendered verses from Quran, Sania and Shoaib said: Qubul Hai (Yes, I will), to mark the completion of Nikah. Later, both of them signed on the Nikahnama.

"Sania was looking gorgeous and Shoaib was awesome," said Shoaib's brother Imran Zafar Malik, in a post-Nikah chat with the media. After the Nikah, which lasted for about half an hour, the hosts and invitees were served with sumptuous lunch, menu of which consisted of completely Hyderabadi delicacies starting from two varieties of Hyderabadi biryani and ending with Qubaani ka Meetha and Double Ka Meetha.
