Censor and sensibility

Sizzling scenes between Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor and extreme violence have resulted in Karan Johar's soon-to-be-released Kurbaan getting an 'A' certificate by the censor board.

A source says, "There is a lot of violence as the film is set against the backdrop of terrorism. Taking this into account, the censors felt that a 'U' or even a 'U/A' certificate would not be advisable."

Director Rensil D'Silva tried his best to reason with the censor board but they were firm about their decision.

Regional Officer of the Censor Board, Vinayak Azad, confirmed the news and said, "After we saw Kurbaan, we felt that it was meant for adult viewing only."

If its a combo of both, hten I can see the standards for censorboard are somewhat constant.
I had a feelign kurbaan would be getting an A rating.

haha but its not like you go the bollywood movie store and they tell you if its A rated or whatever

they just hand you the movie 😆
Whereas at Hollywood Video or Blockbusters, they check to see if you're the proper age lol

I am shocked!
For the FIRST time, a FAIR rating by the CB? and that too on beta saifu's and bahu kareena's movie? WOW!
Did they decide that giving Kurbaan a U/A would just make their biasness even more evident? Or did the constant flak get to them?
But anyways at the end of the day, an A rating is not going to stop people from watching the movie, because if people want to they will, and Kurbaan definately seems like one of the more interesting movies of the year so I don't think an A is going to hurt Kurbaan plus in India they don't check anything

I guess after Vishal Bharadwaj and Gajini fiasco.
Also Madhur's reaction to Jail's A certificate adn tehn cutting out the scenes....I think Censor board do not want tAAJ TAk to bring them down and cost their jobs....😆
Aaj Tak would have not left them easily onthis one...Sharmila to bebo to Saif all would have been under teh fire...😆😆

I do remember Sharmila saying that whenever she comes across some intense scenes, she is tempted not to censor them. She says instead she prefers to give hte movie a higher rating, because sometimes those scenes are necessary.
Dont be pointin fingers at amma jaan 😳
