Shahid talks about priyanka and hispast experience

Shahid learns from his past experience, refuses to speak on his personal life!

Even as rumours of his on-off relationship with Priyanka Chopra do the rounds, Shahid Kapur is ready with Kaminey ' his first film with the former Miss World. Of course, he is more willing to talk about the film than his "good friend".

When probed about Priyanka, Shahid says, "I've never liked to talk about my personal life. I am too shy to do so. I have had a public break up and people are more curious about my personal life now. I am not saying this because I need to gain sympathy. But at that time I realised that my personal life became too public." The reference to Kareena Kapoor is telling. They've both moved on the personal front, but they've yet to shake off the questions.

He does concede, however, that he has grown from the Kareena episode. "One learns from experience and it has taught me a lot. I am finding the answers myself.," he says.

Ask Shahid about his "single" status and he says, "I've never commented on whether I'm single or not. I'm enjoying myself now. I have met a lot of pretty girls in my life. But there is something more substantial you look for. In terms of compatibility, it has to be someone you can connect with on an emotional level. If there is someone in my life, you will get to know immediately," adds Shahid.

He is happy with the way Kaminey has shaped up, especially with co-star Priyanka. "She is a good actor. Right now she is on a creative high. It was challenging for her because I am doing a double role in the film and the focus is on me. She is also playing a Marathi character, something she has never done before. The experience of working with her has been exhilarating. She is a positive person and she is there to make a good film. In fact, she is a team player," Shahid says.

Speaking of creative highs, Shahid's been on one himself, especially since the success of Jab We Met. "Yes! I am looking forward to three releases this year. There is Dil Bole Hadippa with Rani (Mukerji) and Yahoo with Genelia (D'Souza). Then I will start working on my dad's film at the end of the year."
News is Shahid has become a favourite with Yash Raj Films after Dil Bole Hadippa. He has been approached by the production house for their next venture opposite Anushka Sharma, to be directed by Parmeet Sethi. "I don't know about favouritism. There has been a positive interaction with them. I hope I do many more films with them in the future," he says.

There were reports that Shahid would also be working with his mother Neelima Azim on her film. "I don't know how that came out but I was upset when I heard about it. It's between me and my mom," he says.

For now, he's happy with the kind of roles he's doing. "I am doing a double role in the film and the characters have shades of grey. It has been a difficult role. But the flip side is that I have grown as an actor working with Vishal Bharadwaj. I've discovered many things about myself. He taught me how to act," he says.
