Flop 10: Heroes who shouldn't have entered Bollywood
Ever wondered what some people are doing in the Hindi film industry? Or what they were thinking as they signed up for big roles in movies? Someone put up a No Entry sign in as many languages as possible, please!
Kishen Kumar
The late Gulshan Kumar's brother acted in a few films without any success. Aaja Meri Jaan, Kasam Teri Kasam and Bewafa Sanam were all flops. A few years ago Kishen starred in singer Abhijeet's music video and even that flopped. What the hell was he doing in Papa The Great? Playing daddy to the even more irritating Aditya Narayan! Papa degrade!
Himalaya
Himalaya is better known as Bhagyashree's husband. After the mega-successful Maine Pyar Kiya, Bhagyashree took up offers that had hubby Himalaya Dassani starring opposite her. The move ruined her career and sent her and the producers into oblivion. Qaid Mein Hai Bulbul, Tyaagi and Payal all flopped and Himalaya is still known as Bhagyashree's husband.
Vivek Mushran
This guy made his Bollywood splash with Subhash Ghai's Saudagar (Remember the famous ILU ILU Ram Jaane with King Khan. His mentor Subhash Ghai even gave him a role in Kisna, but that didn't take Mushran places either. He then took up a career in singing and assaulted the public with a useless, pointless video recently. You're right, nobody bought the album. song). And then proceeded to sign rubbish films that took his career nowhere. The only decent role he had was in
Harish
Apparently a big name down south, Harish came to Bollywood... He starred opposite Karisma Kapoor in Prem Quaidi and was even more effeminate than Lolo. The other few roles he did were playing sidekick to Govinda in Coolie No. 1 and Aunty No 1, but the industry and public just refused to accept him. He was nicknamed 'Baby Sridevi' by his co-stars, and later turned back to the south to do hot, sexy B-graders.
Rajiv Kapoor
Rajiv Kapoor
Son of the legendary Raj Kapoor, Rajiv Kapoor made his Bollywood debut with Ek Jaan Hain Hum. The film was pitted against Sunny Deol's debut Betaab, and both were big hits. After a few flops, Chimpu scored again with Ram Teri Ganga Maili, and then delivered some more flops. One of the least successful Kapoors, he then tried his hand at direction with the Rishi-Madhuri starrer Prem Granth, which was a massive flop.
Puru RajKumar
Son of Bollywood great Rajkumar, Puru debuted with Bal Brahmachari opposite Karisma Kapoor. He also acted in Mission Kashmir and the remake of Umraao Jaan, but his film career never really took off. Most famous for his drunken driving incident in which he ran over a sleeping man.
Shadaab Khan
Son to Bollywood's most popular villain Amjad Khan, Shadaab and Rani Mukerji entered Bollywood with the flop Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. While Rani is an established actress today, Shadaab went on to star in Refugee and Hey Ram. His film career going nowhere, he is now turning director/writer with Highway 203. Good for him.Kamal Sadanah
Debuted opposite the talented Kajol in Aye Meri Bekhudi and went on to do movies like Rang, Baali Umar Ko Salaam and Hum Sab Chor Hain. All these flop actors should form a club and chant slogans like Hum Sab Bore Hain!
Karan Kapoor
His first mainstream Bollywood flick was Sultanat, but the audience rejected this good-looking son of Shashi Kapoor-Jennifer Kendal right from the start. He did three other films but they didn't help any. The Kapoor lad is now a London-based photographer. Wise move!
Avinash Wadhawan
This flop actor has the longest list of films that didn't work. Rupaye Dus Karod, Police Aur Mujrim, Balmaa, Dhanwaan, Paapi Gudia and Phool Bane Patthar are some of his flops. A qualified MBA, Avinash, in those days was one of the most educated actors (?) around. The highlight of his career (?) was his role in Mahesh Bhatt's Junoon. He won't be showing his discography to anyone in a hurry!
