 Veteran actor Manoj Kumar has won the case against Red Chillies Entertainment at the Sessions Court yesterday. The court defended Kumars application seeking either a stay on the satellite telecast of the film or deletion of the scene in which a spoof has been played on Kumar.The issue had been plaguing Red Chillies Entertainment and Om Shanti Om ever since the film's release in November 2007. Though Om Shanti Om took the box office by storm, it upset Kumar, the patriotic superstar of yesteryear, because of the manner in which he was portrayed in the film. Yash Chopra had played the peacemaker between Shah Rukh, Farah and Kumar by taking the duo to Kumar's residence, so that they may apologise to the peeved 'Bharat'. Kumar was assured at the meeting that there was no malicious intent in Kumar's character and that the objectionable scenes would be deleted from the film immediately. However, the film continued to be screened with the said scenes. When Kumar heard that the film is scheduled to be telecast on a television channel, he decided to take the legal course. He filed a case against the makers of Om Shanti Om on Tuesday in the Civil Court, seeking either a stay on the satellite screening or deletion of the objectionable scenes. When contacted, Ashok Sarogi, Manoj Kumar's advocate confirmed, "The order has been passed in our favour. Defendant number 3 Sony Entertainment is restrained from telecasting the film, Om Shanti Om on 10/8/8 or anytime thereafter until further order. The film cannot be shown on any satellite channel without deleting the objectionable scenes from the film." Manoj Kumar and Farah Khan, remained unavailable for comment |
