@angelica As Hippo pointed out, when we say racism, we always think black-white etc. But, that is not all. Racism constitutes all the behaviors that show hatred towards another culture and components in that culture. Because, there are people who hate south- indian culture or punjabi culture and which leads to hate crimes or incidences of hatred. All these are shades of racism. And, if you see the scene and think about it, Mandana may be part Indian, but her comment showed that she is intolerant towards Indian culture. Her comment showed that she looks down on Indian food. Today, it maybe Indian food, but after 2-3 weeks, it could be something else, if she is not warned of her attitude right away. And the worst part is, she jumped on the "firangi" wagon immediately when Suyyash said the word "firangi", but she herself is so insensitive towards Indian culture, that she didn't think twice when she made the quote sign.

Again, we, Indians, don't call everything racist. But, we should say something when someone shows unnecessary intolerance towards another culture that they don't even know about. Because, more often than not, those are the first signs of racism. How many times have you done something like that? I mean said "Indian" or "Pakistani" or "Chinese" and made a hand gesture? I don't do that, making quote sign. I think that gesture is NOT NORMAL and I believe, although it is not a racist crime, but it is still the first sign of intolerance and xenophobia.

biggbossgirl, i understand what you say. I just wanted to say that many people play the 'racist' or 'racism' card to get an edge over something. I have seen it. I am not a resident Indian and I have seen desis invoking the "racism" card to their advantage where I live. Of course, not all are same. Secondly, I also know how racist Indians themselves are... what would you say about those "fair bride" ads in Indian newspapers? Of course, that's choice and not racism as I understand it, but even that choice is based on some kind of preference of some physical attribute. But every ad seeking a fair bride? a national choice for "fair bride"... I have seen and i have been told how blacks (ethnic Africans) are treated in India... They are shouted at, hurled abuses such as Kallu, Kaloota and what not? sounds racist. Forget blacks, the kind of attitude north indians have for southies and north easterners can be described as racism. I mean hum khud doodh ke dhule nahi hein yaar.

She definitely chose the wrong words.Price's reaction was instinctive and not with an intention to make an issue alone.

Sad thing is it was Mandana and Suyyash who said racist (or at least insensitive) stuff this week, and Prince was the most sensitive and fair when he stopped Mandana with her "Indian" comment. Aur, Mandana and Suyyash, Salman didn't grill them on this issue, ulte Prince ki hi dhulai ho gayi. LOL. It just doesn't make sense, Salman ji.

Just watched the show. I first of all did not get what Mandana was trying to say as I dont get her at all and just missed that . i could rewind and check but I am not going to waste time as i watched it online and not easy to rewind
Prince did say u r on Indian show and all that

I think what Salman's point was not about Prince being racist or anti Iranian and all that. Nor he was defending Mandana

What Salman meant was that he thought that Prince by bringing in India was trying to play patriotic theme and nationalist card and therefore gather cheap votes. he said you have been in industry and here we don't tell others that this is India and all that.

Having said that what did Mandana say so wrong that Prince had to play India card. That i cant tell

overall i agree that there is no need to use national card. but was he using it? that depends on mandana's talk which i did not get. maybe salman and creative teams know more and prince did look embarsssed
