Remember the time during BB8 when tanna n upen were going through a down phase and claiming that only bad people are surviving in the shoe .. They further stated that they should be ousted of this dirty place. "Rahe gande log hi yaha".. Indirectly blaming bb for the fiasco goin on.
I think watever is happening to karishma n upen is BB's revenge.
