It's a sub conscious thing he's doing, to show he has not airs about himself or to sound comical. Divya started doing that in the last week of OTT too.
He doesn't need to do that. He should just be himself.

I do it too when I visit Mumbai. I talk to the street vendors in the Colaba Causeway market in the local tapori accent (it's a subconscious thing). LOL. Having been brought up outside India, it always surprises my family how well I blend into the local Mumbaiya culture and dupe the vendors who try to act smart with me while quoting their prices.
I remember this one time I wanted to buy one of those large-sized Ram Leela type earrings for my colleague who was fascinated by the style. When she learned about Mumbai trip, she requested me to get those for her. While shopping at the CCM, I dressed up as the locals did, carried a cheap unbranded cell phone, and talked to people in the local accent - Bhai kitne ka hai and all of that. The vendor quoted Rs. 800 for a pair of earrings I wanted to buy. I was like, I won't pay a dime over Rs. 100 (the earrings were pretty sturdy and fashionable). After persistent bargaining, we agreed at Rs. 140. I didn't wanna waste much time, as Rs. 140 (approx $2) was still a reasonable deal. It's been almost six years, and my colleague still uses them like they were bought only yesterday. LOL.
