When the show started, the most popular among all the contestants was Jasmin Bhasin(she was even more popular than Rubina), cause she has the most followers on social media and also she was the topper in Ormax after Sid, not sure about general public.
So Jasmin already had a clear advantage here. So what went wrong?
From first week though Jasmin was always promoted by colors she was never a good player as BB contestant, though she was really good in tasks she didn't utilize this strength of hers very well.
In her first month she was quiet, only active in 2 matters one was fought in the first week vs Nikki/Eijaz and another was when she went hyper out of nowhere regarding the Rahul matter but that didn't keep her in a good limelight. Even though she wasn't doing much she was still one of the likeable ones till that Rahul incident happen. She got lucky she didn't get evicted earlier thanks to her popularity. Even after that, she needed colors to save her(contestants like Nishant and Rahul who were less popular than her ended up getting more votes than her) and evict the ones who actually did better.
Wheras Rubina she was more active player from start. The way she had guts to speak against the demanding seniors and also she even went on to speak against Salman, that's where her game started. To survive in Bigg Boss, you need to provide content from start no matter how popular you are or not, even if you are not popular if you provide content, channel will still save that person over the popular ones via unethical methods. Plus Rubina was anyways most popular after Jasmin so that helped her.
Even after that Jasmin was still one of the popular ones, when channel even sent Aly as her support system who turned out to be a strong player, instead of her game being improved her game was downgraded.
Yes she did provide more content after Aly came, but the way she changed was unrealistic and unrelatable. If she showed that personality from day one, probably it would have been a different case. Due to this, audience started disconnecting to her, and she started losing votes there. The consistency wasn't there in her journey.
To connect to the audience and survive in the show, two factors are important content and being real. No matter how positive or negative personality one has, if they stay real audience still like them, but there is also a limit to maintain.
Rubina's personality was consistent throughout and that's why she connected better to the audience more unlike Jasmin who needed one person to change her completely, and thats why she came across as fake.
If Jasmin maintained one personality from start and fully utilized her strength in doing well in tasks she could have been the winner instead.
And one more thing, audience connect to those contestants who can handle situations well. I would give one example to differentiate between Rubina and Jasmin and how they handle situations. When Rakhi went to Julie mode,Jasmin bullied her and made fun of her, she would lose her temper and just show hate for Rakhi. Wheras Rubina what she did was, she played along with Rakhi and made it fun instead. Thats where Rubina stands out. She didn't need to change her personality for that.
If Jasmin maintained her personality and handled situations better, she could have been the winner instead of Rubina(who seems to be the obvious one to win for now)
I feel Jasmin isn't a bad person thats why I never hated her, but the way she played the game and displayed her personality was so ridiculous, she had many advantages too, but her game plan was really weak.
