Pavitra first gave her word to Rubina that she will save her if she wins the task and later when the task started both Ejaz and Pavitra told Jaan that they would save him. Both knew they were travelling in 2 boats and have given their word to 2 different people so both mutually decided that they'll quit but after Kavita quits. Ejaz later on went ahead and lifted the box and put the whole blame on Rahul. They were anyway going to quit but Ejaz wanted to put the blame on someone else. He planned it all.
Rahul decoded their plan and explained the same thing to Ali.
