I never wanted to be an actor: Ragini

Being actor Govinda's niece does not necessarily mean you will nurse a desire to be a part of the glam world.

Ragini Khanna, the famous Bharti of Bhaskar Bharti did not necessarily want to be an actor. She wanted to become a singer but destiny had some other plans! AT chatted with Ragini Khanna who was in the state for a promotional tour.

You ask her how she bagged the role in Bhaskar Bharti, and she excitedly answers, "I play the role of Bharti who has a mind and soul of man trapped in a woman's body! It is a challenge for me to perform this role as I have to behave in totality like a man. I had to observe Eijaz Khan to adapt his style, body language and dialogue delivery and it was not so easy." The young actor who does show promise so far as talent is concerned feels that she has producers Deeya and Tony Singh to thank, for seeing talent in her. The producers also directed her in Radha ki betiyan...kuch kar dikhayengi. "I hope the audience is liking my performances."

Ragini had always wanted to be a pop star. "I have spent 15 years learning classical singing and 8 years into learning various dancing styles. And then, somehow I just gave it a thought and started as a usual struggling actor by auditioning for many serials'it was just a chance that I got selected for Radha Ki Betiyaan... and now Bhaskar Bharti." Ragini was also seen featuring in a few commercials along with these shows. The actor will be soon seen in a Bollywood comedy film Marey Mere Dushman, where she will play the lead actor. Having a dad who is a film producer, mother who is a writer, brother as an actor and importantly being Govinda's niece ' does that help make a foray into Bollywood? "It does help in a way that Govinda guides us very properly but he never interferes in our decisions of what to do and what not to. But I believe in working as an individual."

This 22-year old pretty actor has done her post graduation in Commerce and as a person she is, "simple, casual and down to earth. I don't have many friends'my life revolves around my family." And she likes to watch movies in her free time. "I'm also a cleanliness freak and I love to cook Italian food and desserts as well." Playing a tomboyish role in Bhaskar Bharti does she reflect the same characteristics in real life too? She says with a laugh, "No. I never was and even if I were'it won't help in this role," she signs off.
