Before I write my note on the episode , I have to say one thing. No matter what loopholes, jerks, WTF spots the story has, the show always makes it up with wow performances, good direction and very well written scenes. Screenplays are better than than the story. Mostly. And today was one such day.
I really liked how the makers handled the situation post Rishi's death at Roy mansion. After Antara's screams and cries and MJ's confused breakdown , the way that slow acceptance came of his death, without everyone howling and the camera passing time of showing everyone's reaction thrice and more; it was sensitive and very 'ouchh'. The lighting of the mourning hour was apt - somber , broken , silent pain. The way Rishi's footprints were taken, the way each one of them remembered Rishi in their best times with him and accepted his loss and exit - it was a fresh change from the usual. It made you nostalgic about Rishi, and didn't make you cringe to watch the whole thing.
Even MJ's and Rudra's showdown was very restrained , with low voice, simmering anger and just the right emotional chemistry between the actors. Rudra's accusations to his father that the latter's non acceptance of Rishi's choices led to this was fantastically countered by MJ that it was Rudra whose hands were stained with Rishi's blood. And wow, Ashish delivered that line so well.
" Kamre mein bandh rehta , toh upset hota , gussa karta... magar zinda rehta!"
(It was nice to see MJ crack. It makes him more believable apart from being the cold hottie that he is. )
That really shook Rudra and suddenly, from the accuser, he became the accused and he even accepted it unconsciously. What if I had not opened that door? What if i had not announced my engagement and upset him? That frickin' 'what if' that haunts everyone at some point or the other. After that, Rudra's angry emotions turned to self-sabotaging and self-accusing myriad of thoughts and emotions. All this while he is still mentally and emotionally accepting that Rishi is no more. Rudra is a dangerous combination - extremely volatile and extremely sensitive. This combo is often fatal - to self and others.
But Rudra has those shades of Maya and MJ too - NEVER SHOW HOW YOU FEEL. DON'T BREAK DOWN. HOLD IT ALL INSIDE. PUT UP A BRAVE FACE. And those shades gather colour as he tells Maya on phone - Afsos karne ke liyye phone kiya hai kya, Maya? That was so Maya and MJ like. He tells off Ananya too because he didn't want to break down in front of her either. He wanted to be alone to be with Rishi's memories and take control of everything going inside him... and then, Maya came. And we all know how he will crumble in front of her ; the same woman whom he should throttle to death , he should hate, he should drag to court, he should kill - that woman is his cradle. Ironies of life, anyone?
As for Maya, what can i say about her what I have not said earlier. Ice melts in it's own water and ends. Maya burns in her own fire and turns into ashes every day. Mar gaya Rishi. Milaa sukoon? Nahin na? Milega bhi nahin.
I don't trust Maya at all with her intentions for Rudra but I trust Maya's heart as far as Rudra is concerned and I hope her heart betrays her just at the right time. Besides, Rudra is Rudra. He is no Rishi.
Anyway, all said and done, it was a very well written and executed episode. The director seems to have a good grasp of emotions and with performers like Ashish ( when am not wondering why is he so hot ) , Jennifer Winget and the surprise package Shivin Narang , it seems like a cake walk in the emotional scenes.
Story ka BBB nikalta rehta hai, but I can still watch the show. And that says a lot about the whole team.
