I like the idea. It will be like starting the threads from the start.

Just going to do a recap.

Okay. What I found was that my reactions while watching again were no different than at first. I don't know what that says, but I feel that the director so knew what he wanted to say, that it's perfectly set up. I'm hoping Shruthi will do an actual retro analysis as she mentioned somewhere.
Episode opens with the beautiful Mussorie shots, with Abhi na jao playing as we see Zoya at the pottery wheel. She looks lovely (but what she produced did not). All I could think was: Why do you need a pottery wheel to make that? You can just shape it by hand. But a pleasing visual, nonetheless.
It's established pretty soon that Zoya is fida on her husband, maybe justifiably, from what she tells her father later. But in retrospect, we know that Zoya was living in a Fool's Paradise, and that fool was her husband, a remarkably stiff individual, who seems to be holding back as Zoya initiates romance. The ring Zoya finds and presumes is for her is, we know, loaded with foreshadowing.
I was never puzzled at why Yash told Zoya he loved her. He did, in a kind of paternal way, cocooning her while he was playing bf to someone else.
Aditya. Back then, and even now, I didn't much like Aditya's opening scene. I didn't like Pooja's attitude much nor making Aditya too kiddish--but that changed quickly enough, so accepted. I feel now that Pooja mirrors her bf Yash and the Fool's Paradise scenario, down to the kinda parentish way she acts with Aditya. Similarly, Adi is romantic, while the wily wife sort of squirms away.
A significant scene was Pooja saying there's nobody who doesn't keep secrets, which is something I agree with. Also significant was that Adi gave back her diary unread.
Yash and Pooja cry off from spending a special day with their spouses and lie about where they must go.
Aditya emerges as a smashing pilot and toodles off to fly his plane, after letting us know he's at odds with his parents and has a bro. (Noticed the shaven/stubbled Aditya in congruent scenes, but we'll let that go.) Also there is his mother-in-law, who has to remind him of Pooja's birthday. I think Adi's love for Pooja was so well put in the sense that the scenes hold true for whatever comes later. This was a comfortable love, no great highs or lows.
After an emergency landing at Dehradun, Aditya ends up searching for a gift for spouse in Mussorie. Zoya ditto, minus emergency landing, but after being cold-shouldered and talked at by her disapproving dad. Both zoom in on the gramaphone playing their respective spouses'fav song and end up in a tussle Zoya wins, but not for long, as Aditya grabs the package and runs. An entertaining chase later, including that colour throwing, as Adi admires his gift, each gets a call.
The last scenes, at the accident site, were what persuaded me to continue watching. In spite of bloopers, they were remarkable because of the content and setting up the story immediately, in the very first episode. How could one not keep watching?
I'll be honest, I didn't find Harshad or Jennifer very good in the first parts, even back then. They were, IMHO, yet to settle into the skins of Adi and Zoya. By the end, I found them far better, impressive as they approach the dead bodies. What a finish to the episode! Two people dead, their hands locked together. Aditya's instant conclusion and both their reactions. The fun of the daytime forgotten as the grimest of grim circumstances confront two people we've just met.

Thank you for this fun summary. Zoya's pottery skills never impressed me either.😆Even Noor in one of the later episodes I think snidely mentions that Zoya was into pottery which wasn't much to talk about - I think that was to Arshad. But, IMO this less than average skill of hers also showed the naivety of Zoya's character at that point of time in the story.

I am so glad that someone else also felt that HC and JW were not completely at their best especially in their respective opening scenes. Don't get me wrong, both of them looked delectable, but I too felt that they only unleashed their real magic after they reach the scene of the accident.

For me the most beautiful part of the entire episode was the chase. It had some brilliant cinematography and I have never gotten over the "Besharam Behaya Kamzarf" part...I love how HC repeats the words with his hand gestures...

Episode opens with the beautiful Mussorie shots, with Abhi na jao playing That was a favorite moment of mine..the fact that abhi na jao was playing as zoya's entry...so beautiful...as we see Zoya at the pottery wheel. She looks lovely (but what she produced did not). 😆😆 i agree! kya bakwaas pottery tha yaar! All I could think was: Why do you need a pottery wheel to make that? You can just shape it by hand. But a pleasing visual, nonetheless.
It's established pretty soon that Zoya is fida on her husband, she called yash "baby"...i wish she did that to adi too! maybe justifiably, from what she tells her father later. But in retrospect, we know that Zoya was living in a Fool's Paradise, and that fool was her husband, a remarkably stiff individual, who seems to be holding back as Zoya initiates romance. I was never puzzled at why Yash told Zoya he loved her. He did, in a kind of paternal way, cocooning her while he was playing bf to someone else. i think he did love zoya in his own way...but he became just someone who took care of her...he lacked the companionship with zoya...and the dosti aspect.
Aditya. Back then, and even now, I didn't much like Aditya's opening scene. dude you noticed pooja in that scene? i was stuck on harshad's body only 😆 I didn't like Pooja's attitude much nor making Aditya too kiddish--but that changed quickly enough, so accepted. I feel now that Pooja mirrors her bf Yash and the Fool's Paradise scenario, down to the kinda parentish way she acts with Aditya. Similarly, Adi is romantic, while the wily wife sort of squirms away.

Yash and Pooja cry off from spending a special day with their spouses and lie about where they must go. i think the adi-pooja marriage problems were presented well. i'm not justifying cheating...but it showed that pooja wanted a mature love where adi was all playful and friendly type...but pooja's fault was that she never tried to explain to adi what she was feeling...she only scolded him or hid her true feelings from him.
This was a comfortable love, no great highs or lows. very well put!

The fun of the daytime forgotten as the grimest of grim circumstances confront two people we've just met. i was honestly hooked from the first moment! from the abhi na jao chor kar lines...the whole episode was beautiful to me. harshad and jenny are such seasoned actors and it showed. i'm so used to seeing some very expressionless acting on tv that seeing them was a breath of fresh air...so the 1st epi had be hooked from the very beginning. i didnt expect the death of yash and pooja to happen so fast...but i am glad that it happened bc i hate story lines dragging and BP did not do that

Dear Threadmaker,
It's a great idea to re-watch the episodes n have discussions on it.
I'll also try and contribute once I am brave enough to watch BP from beginning without crying buckets. I can't bring myself to listen to the OST and the old BGM. Whenever they pop up in my IG feed, I skip them.
But I'll keep up with this thread and ur reviews .

Looks like the senior members have left the forum.
But, u guys Please do continue this thread. Would like to hear others' point of view too.

Good day! !

That pottery heart!🤣
Good to know someone else felt the same anout the opening scenes. Yeah, they looked great, but I did find they were far better later. Maybe it was the newness of the characters at that point, or the actors hadn't fully imbibed them.
Love 'Besharam, behaya, kamzarf'. And Harshad's gestures gave me Rajesh Khanna vibes.
