If they are going to do it right they indeed should take a little longer to develop their characters and relationships.

Perhaps Garv will initially do his utmost best to make a show of his anger and disinterest in Ananya but he will gradually yield to his secret desire for her, becoming obssessed with her, and even then this would be disguised by an outward contempt for her which can be construed as a misplaced attraction
Shakti was there to give us the romantic angle, where all is smooth going (pre-marriage of course). But Garv will give us the passionate angle of a love that is intense, dark and dangerous.
