Let me try and give you a brief summary.
Basera is the story of 4 friends and their families. It explores the relationship between the older members of the family, namely the parents and the children.
Keshubhai Sanghvi (Ram Kapoor) is a rich industrialist who lives with his wife Ketki Sanghvi (Pallavi Subhash), their 2 sons, daughters-in-law and Keshu's mother. Keshu and Ketki come from poor backgrounds and they have come up in life the hard way. Keshu has 3 friends, Aatish, Waqar and Sachin. Each of the friend has his own family. Keshu is an honest and principled man who values family and friendship above business and money. The 4 friends share a good friendship and their families are close too.
In the beginning, everything seems fine. But Keshu's younger son Ketan is determined not to follow in his father's honest, benevolent footsteps. In order to earn money and rise up in business quickly, he takes wrong, illegal decisions. One such decision kills the son of Keshu's friend Waqar. This leads to Waqar and his wife Jannat to break ties with Keshu and Ketki. Keshu at first does not know that his son Ketan is responsible for the fire at their factory (Ketan purchases old machinery) which kills Waqar's son Faizaan.
When Keshu comes to know of Ketan's betrayal, it is too much for him to bear. Keshu gets a stroke and becomes paralysed. Ketan, who has the Power of Attorney from his father for the business, manages to bribe the lawyer and transfers the property to his name. As Ketan has done this within the limits of the law, there is nothing that Ketki can do. Her other son Mehul also listens to his wife and decides not to help with Keshu's treatment. Keshu and Ketki have lost their business and property to their sons!
At present, Basera is showing how Keshu is paralysed and Ketki and her daughter-in-law Urvashi (Ketan's wife) are trying to arrange treatment for Keshu but not succeeding. Meanwhile, Nandini who is Aatish's daughter (Keshu's friend) and Shantanu a lawyer play a couple in this serial. Nandini is also like a daughter to Keshu and Ketki.
Aatish, Keshu's friend is in jail as he has decided to take the responsibility for the fire in the factory. This was at the time when neither Keshu nor Aatish knew that Ketan was the one responsible.
Keshu's friend Sachin is also in trouble. Sachin's son Jatin is the journalist who discovered that old machinery was what caused the fire at the factory. Since Sachin is a bank officer who sanctioned the loan, his name has also come under investigation. He has been dismissed from his job and they have to vacate their house. His journalist son Jatin thinks that his father has a hand in the wrong-doings at the factory (But Sachin is innocent).
Sachin and his wife Manda, who are now homeless, are planning to go and live with their other son Nitin who is in Singapore. Their daughter-in-law apparently wants Sachin and Manda to stay with them so that she gets someone to do the housework and babysit...of course, Sachin and Manda do not know this!
Hopefully, Keshu gets well soon and we get to see Keshu and Ketki rebuild their lives and fight their sons for justice. We should also hopefully get to see what happens to the lives of the other friends and families and also Nandini and Shantanu.
