Bondita a widow?

Hi guys,

I started watching Barrister Babu very recently and I am confused as to why Bondita was treated as a widow and taken to get sati done.

The groom died before the completion of the seventh phera so does that not mean that the wedding remained incomplete? I thought the full seven pheres were necessary for it to be complete?

And by the way, this was a forced marriage, I am curious as to what hinduism says about marriages which take place without the consent of either the bride or groom.

It doesn’t talk about Sati.if anybody had performed , it has been out of pure will.

Sulochana throws herself in the fire when meghnath dies-voluntarily. It was because she couldn’t have lived without him.

Tara -the monkey queen -remarries her brother in law -that is widow remarriage .

Kunti is all welcome at Hastinapur (her marital home) .

You have to know that till the early Vedic period women held an important position in the society. They were educated , were somebody without whom rituals were incomplete. They learnt hymns and bhajans to recite them in public . When swaymvars were conducted there wish was the most important. Kunti selected Pandu because she wanted it. Remember: exceptions have been popular and exaggerated.

Now coming to this

They are a bunch of incompetent people. Even if somebody felt another way -they would be termed as anti-societal.

It has been the only way to exert your dominance on the society.

I guess the marriage should have at least shown something worth to show sati. Cause these people are looking , extremely evil.

The Sharda act comes in 1929 , and sati would be banned in the coming 20 years ( according to the serial )

From the show point of view, bondita's sister did mention that the wedding is incomplete since the seventh phera is not complete. But the groom's SIL did say that since bondita is applied the old man's haldi, it should be treated as the wedding complete.

Different people, different perspectives of looking at it. Just like since bondita's mother is a widow and she hasn't been a victim of sati but her daughter is being forced.

@bold,exactly this made me always curious since beginning of the promos that how can bondita's mother being a widow is still alive but bondita who was not properly get married is termed not only as widow but also should be sati..two rules for two diffetent people.Also bondita's mom is completely bald.

Looks like they are representing two different societies.

Bondita's Mom is widow n living cause none from her in laws as of now wanted her as SAti neither her Brother n Sister in law ..as from past epi they stated Bondita's mom's in law send her here n her brother accepted it..

now Bondita's didn't get married to that old man ...but that old man's sister in law give pressure for her sadistic pleasure ..one can be sati or not depends on society of that place , in laws n many other things if we see clearly that yesterday's epi said sister in law of old groom that bondita's mama (maternal uncle ) did wrong by accepting Bondtia's mother who should be sati ago so now that curse has fallen on bondita n if she didn't commit same then all will be widow ..its more about superstition prejudice n twisting dharama for their gain...

Looks like they are representing two different societies.

Either ways, the society has been harsh to both bondita and her mother, unfortunately. May be something to do with their tradition... Like families of the same region and follow the same culture also have different rules

Bold - I guess i missed it. But my blood boils looking at such sadistic people, and bondita's mama readily agreeing for sati of his neice is 🤬
