I would say 80 per cent of the time it's safe and 20 per cent of the time one can get hurt. I am fine with the idea of performing stunts. Once I was performing a scene where some goons had to hit me, they all got so excited that they hit me really bad and I actually got hurt and fell down on the hard ground. The production houses tend to take precautions whether it is a fire or action sequence. Incidents or mishaps can happen once in a while.

In the last one-and-a-half years I have performed so many stunts that I get excited with the idea of performing stunts. I had to swim in 200 feet deep water in Ganga in Benaras. I had to walk a thin railing and once I had to run around with 10 thousand crackers tied behind me, so I am used to all this. It totally depends on the actor. I have performed many stunts and hurt myself badly as well. The actor has to be very confident and if he is in two minds then there are chances of getting hurt. The timing has to be perfect and he has to believe in himself and of course be lucky.

It's not at all safe to perform a stunt yourself. Once I nearly fell off a terrace while shooting for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. I was given bracing and a belt was tied around me while the cable passed through the bracing. I had to hold a rope and climb up the floor and they were pulling me through the bracing when the cable broke. I was simply not prepared for it. Even the smallest of stunts have to be done with utmost care else could be fatal. Stunts for me are avoidable as it involves a lot of risk.

I think it's safe to perform stunts. The TV industry has come a long way. The equipments and procedures are really efficient these days. I haven't heard of any incidents on the sets. There's nothing wrong in performing stunts if the actor is confident. Safety isn't an issue here, I have performed stunts earlier. In Kasamh Se for a bomb blast sequence I had been blown up more than 10 feet in the air and landed far away. There was a harness and I had wires so it was fine.
